Playlist cars not on auction house?

So I remember when people would sell the week’s festival playlist cars on the auction house. But I noticed that for the past few months, with newer playlist cars, whenever you try to search them on the auction house there are no auctions available. For example, I really wanted the TRD Camry, but I didn’t have enough free time that week to grind out enough points to unlock it. So I did what I usually do in that case, try to buy it off the auction house. But now the cars are either 20 million plus credits, or just not available at all. Did Microsoft do this to encourage people to play the festival playlist to earn the cars instead of just taking the easy route?

I mean it barely takes 20-30 Minutes to get 20 Points per week, that’s pretty easy.

There’s a few different factors at play here:

  • snipers insta-buyout newer playlist cars in a split second. You have to be fast and check often.
  • There’s some debate over users using bots to take the cars instantly
  • A couple of competitors released a new game/new expansion when this started to happen, as you describe (less players, less cars sold on the auction house, although player numbers don’t seem to reflect this too much).
  • The auction house algorithm might have been updated to limit access but no way to know.

Either way, I agree it’s harder now. If I like the car enough in the playlist, I’ll try to snipe another one of the auction house.

I was thinking about starting a new topic about this myself. Clearly I’m not alone in having a sudden more difficult time finding a second copy.

….and yes 20 points doesn’t take to long but us tuners/builders like to have more than one sometimes.
