Performance - PC FPS Performance drop since update 5 (1723963)

I have also got the career mode “Low FPS in the 2nd Race” Bug.

I can start any track 10x in the Free Mode with good FPS above 60 with full details + RT … but in the second race in the career mode the FPS go down to 30-40 and stay so low until i restart the game.

Pls fix this how something like this can even happen???

High settings eat up V-RAM for whatever reason in the second race. If you play with halfway “moderate” settings this doesn’t happen.

I posted my settings earlier in the thread and don’t have this problem. I also had that problem with half FPS of what it should be, if i play with very high settings.

No that cant be the problem cause this only occurs in Career Mode. I can play 10 several tracks in the Free Mode and dont have the problem. 11,3 GB is the highest memory usage on my 4070 Ti

For me in career mode: First race - frame rates not as good as they used to be (a lot more stuttering), second race is a slideshow, even tho the FPS counter shows >70fps. Restart the game, the same happens.

This is EXACTLY what happens and after Update 5 it’s even worse than before.
I mean, before 5 high fps lasted for several solid races, now game restart is required after one race on most occasions.
Is this even acknowledged by Turn10? It’s been 4 months.

For me this happened only after Update 5, before that i had only minor fps downgrades after several races. I use msi afterburner i dont trust anything from Turn 10 anymore even not their fps counter.

Since Update 5, I’ve had frame rate drops, but only during the first few rounds of single-player testing

I got a reply from support saying “Hot fix came out, please try to fix it,” so I tried it, but nothing changed.

Immediately after the start of the second race, there is a severe drop in FPS, and the game moves forward.
Well, I thought there was no way it was fixed! lol

However, my friend uses AMD Radeon and doesn’t have the same problem and FSR works fine.
It seems that only Geforce users are experiencing this problem.

However, Geforce is by far the most popular user, so I think this issue will be replicated and confirmed in development soon …

Maybe Turn 10 doesn’t have a Geforce environment …
No, maybe there’s no PC in the first place …

This fix was only for multiplayer fps limit on odd refresh rate monitors like 100hz or 165hz, cuz in multi it was limiting fps to below 60, they just rolled back fps limit in multiplayer to pre update 5 state, that’s all, everything else is the same.

I use Rx7900xtx and never had problems with single player after REBAR got fixed in update 5, tho I don’t use ray tracing, try turning off RT and see if there’s any significant difference.

Mine went from 60fps to 30fps and a lot of stuttering. and 5.1 update isn’t helpful either.
worst update ever.

I continue with the problem. I have a 165hz monitor and I use a 4070 without ray tracing and in online racing I have strong fps drops and the screen even freezes.

There’s problem with other players designs, Tah make your game freeze during practice/qualifying, when someone joins lobby, game is loading his design, and that can make your game to freeze, try disabling player designs in hud settings

Hmm maybe u just changed fps limit manually from 60 to 30, if u use low preset game will automatically set to max 30 fps.

I turned off ray tracing, but the symptoms didn’t change.

I think the reason is that even if you turn off ray tracing or drop the graphics settings, you end up not releasing the VRAM, which causes a VRAM leak and drastically reduces the FPS.
I think that probably doesn’t happen in RADEON.

I don’t know if it’s because of the game or the VGA driver.
(Recent GeForce drivers are pretty bad.)

When will Turn 10 be able to play games properly with decent graphics settings?

No, the FPS limit is unlocked. And I was saying that such things happen while playing the game. When the racing starts, initially it shows smooth frame rates, but then the frames fluctuate, stuttering occurs, and suddenly the frames drop significantly. I found out that many people are experiencing exactly the same symptoms after update 5. It needs to be fixed quickly.

Turning off “AI liveries” fixed the problem in SP for me - it’s rock solid now. However, MP is still a stutterfest.

U need to turn off player designs for multiplayer

Well, I have the same problem after every single player race.
Usually I´m able to play at about 90 to 100 FPS. After Update 5 the framerate dropped down to around 30 after every second or maybe third race. Now after the Hotfix 5.1 I have to restard the game after every race, to get back to my 100 FPS.

Nothing that you guys said could work, worked for me so far.

  • Moderate graphic settings - NOPE
  • Turning liveries off - NOPE
  • Vsync off - NOPE
  • Locking 60 FPS - NOPE
  • All at once - NOPE

My guess: They messed it up in the update or in the hotfix. This game could be so much fun.
But again: Players are just beta-testing a fully released game.

Nvidia RTX3080
Ryzen 7 3700X

Friend of mine showed me screen how game was able to use whole 20gb VRAM on rx7900xt game started to freeze mid race, he restarted game and went down to normal 10gb VRAM use, tho compared to ngreedia cards, it took some hours of playing to get to point of game freezing mid race.

There’s definitely some kind of memory leak (same as in fm7)
