Performance - Low framerate and stuttering in multiplayer with 165hz monitor (1719353)

Hi @JetPartySalad, I made screenshots if you want those (unable to record screen, or I need to use my phone). But I made another comment in this thread: https://forums.forza.net/t/unplayable-graphics/671684/5 (issue and my comments moved to thread: Performance - Low framerate and stuttering in multiplayer with 165hz monitor (1719353))

Basically it boils down to the game forcing you on the “60fps vsync” target setting when entering multiplayer, no matter what unlock setting you use. Also, the “60fps vsync” target setting is broken, as it only produces 55fps (well, on my end and many others’).

You can solve this issue by just using the 60fps target setting (without vsync).

Can you provide more information on this? Can you send a screenshot of your graphics settings in game?
Are you using a 165hz monitor like a lot of the players in this thread?

I was testing a bit today with refresh rate in multiplayer and, anything up to 75hz, works fine in multi and I get fps equal to se monitor Hz with unlocked(v-sync) setting.
But when I use 100hz or higher in my monitor settings, while using unlocked(v-sync) option, my fps in multiplayer is halved, so I think everything works as intended (by developers). Tho before update, u could run up to 100hz =fps in multiplayer (and if someone got more than 240hz, he could have 120+fps in multi, now they can’t ), now it got reduced to max ~75, it’s probably the reason why so many people have complains now.

Micro Sutter’s will happen all the time in Forza, it’s just that with higher refresh rate u don’t see them due to vrr, but if your fps drops below 72fps in vrr monitor u will see flickering and stuttering, unless u use 60/72/75 Hz setting in monitor, then vrr will be able to deal with light fps drops.

When using 120hz u get 60 fps in multi
When using 100hz u get 50 fps in multi
When using 165hz u can’t get 83 cuz it’s too high so u get 55fps (165/3).
VRR will not work correctly with 55fps on 165hz monitor.

Well I can also complain that my “100hz monitor” gets only 50fps in multiplayer after update. Ofc with vrr not being able to work with anything below 72hz… game flicker and Sutter’s all the time🤣
I want my 100fps in multi back.

Would be great if mods would not rename this topic, because now it’s not representing the problem actually.

Same issue here. Stuttering and overall poor graphics performance. The blurred sides when speeding down a straight are real choppy and grainy now too.

Only thing that seems to fix the stutter was the amd fluid motion frame setting to generate higher fps than game cap. But the qaulity is still terrible compared to before update 5.

What the.

Salam-alaikum.

I’m using 144hz monitor.

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X (Not OC)
  • Nvidia 3060TI 8GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • HP NVME Drive (Game is installed M.2)

When I record the video using Nvidia Shadowplay, the video becomes smoother but the actual stuttering is much low when I play the video back. But you can have a look

Stutter/Low FPS Forza Motorsport JetPartySalad (youtube.com)

Also the game has crashed 4 times since last night, 2 times the game crashed in Menu and the crash report saying ‘Party.dll’ stopped working, and when the game crashes in race, the steamworks_exe stopped crashing.

The setting is Unlocked (V-Sync)

I got rly good solution for this problem, remove fps lock, there’s not even that much of advantage in game with more fps, game is total joke anyway, so why force anyone that still plays this game, to watch slideshow (yes 60 is just slideshow for anyone that isl used to higher refresh rate).
And looking at my pc performance after update 5 (I get 130 fps on 4k max setting no rt), I think even consoles should be able to achieve 120fps.

Went little off topic, but all stuttering happens becouse game forcefully limits fps, and if u don’t hit set refresh rate cap, game will sutter.

The only way to “fix” this problem is to change monitor refresh rate to 60/72/75. Then u can have smooth slideshow.

Another workaround to Sutters is to limit your fps using AMD/NVIDIA controll panel or Rivera, but then u need to set max fps to 1 below what u can get now, so if u get 55 or 50 in multi, u still have to change your monitor refresh rate to 60/72/75 or 120/144 to get 60 fps.

I paid 99 dollars for this game, My computer meets their recommended specs by surpassing minimum, I dont think I’m gonna go through all these steps troubleshooting to fix this. This is sad. And to think these guys are affiliated with Microsoft is just pure blasphemy.

Well anyone that got 85 fps reduced to 57 or so, will feel like something is wrong, they only help I can offer is to change your monitor refresh rate to 72 or 75 if available, anything above will be halved but u can still use 120/144 with fluid motion frames should be better than what u use now.
Unfortunately after update 5 165/170hz monitors will have it’s refresh rate divided by 3, and that will be your multi fps cap.

Game also will look lot worse becouse motion blur is changing to your frame rate in this game, if u have less fps ,motion blur will be longer making everything blurred. (Its the same in horizon 5 tho u need to restart game after changing monitor refresh rate to see difference in motion blur)

Just saying that this problem with not be fixed, cuz developers want to limit fps in multiplayer to 60, they just don’t know how to do it LOL.

I actually managed to have 83 fps in private mp today.

I had to switch to 144hz, then boot the game, then join lobby and then switch back to 165hz without closing game. Worked fine for me.

Also i tried to play with 144/72 and it felt horrible, even worse than 120/60, but still better than 165/55

UPD

I also tried to boot the game in 165 mode and then switching it to 144. Got 48 fps. But when i switched to 120, i got 60.

Man c’mon delete this post xd let me play with 100 fps xd
Yeah there’s this exploit that allows u to change your max fps in multi, u can also set to 60hz, lunch game, change to 100hz and u can play with 100 fps in multi, I accidentally cracked this 1 min after lunching game after update xd

Now let’s see if there will be hotfix in 2 weeks that will make us unable to use this exploit lol.

Oh and when u use this exploit, u get 60 fps ( if u use 60hz at beginning, u can also use 72 or 75) In single player, 50fps in menu, and 100 fps in multiplayer Pog.

Well, reading a little reddit and several threads in this forum I saw that the solution is to choose the graphic option “car library” in any option except Ultra. For some reason this brings real time loading problems and produces those micro cuts. Another optional thing that in my case improves the smoothness of the cinematics is the “performance target” option. Setting this to 60 fps without V sync (in my case I have a 60hz monitor) helped me to eliminate the freezes.

Forza set the rule max to 60fps and forza said it for “fairplay”. LOL

oh i was experiancing game getting micro cuts, untill i turned off player desings, looks like game have problem with loading desings in real time on ultra settings.

Exactly. That option is the one that is causing those freezes, the solution is to choose any option except “ultra” and magically the game runs smoothly.
