Nice ! This worked for me too, no performance issues anymore.
indeed , thank u very much, it works without any stuttering issue when I disable completely this option.
But I hope they ll patch it soon cos before the update , it worked perfectly with this option to extreme
@Ben_L0nd0n is spot-on here.
I might get about 30 seconds of clean frames in the dunes on a fresh boot before it starts to drop. If I immediately play a race through the area it’s already getting difficult to drive well before the race ends.
Sure enough, the longer I play the more severe the dunes area and night time races bog down. At one point FH5 even gave me a warning about low video memory. Prior to this DLC it would usually just crash at some point without warning, though that has been going on for many months.
Good catch on terrain deformation, I’ll give this a try!
Definitely glad im not the only one. There was one Grit Reapers race in the sand dunes area that I literally thought was going to kill my PC. I9 13900k, 4090. Frames everywhere are normally a cool 240, but immediately upon loading that certain race I would be at like 5 fps. Surprisingly managed to squeeze out first place luckily so I don’t have to put myself through that again. However, even when driving in that area in free roam performance does quite tank a bit. Not sure if it has to do with weird clipping issues into the sand or a combination of reflections from the helicopter light/rain/etc.
As well as the terrible framerate and stuttering, I’m seeing lots of little white artefacts all over the surface of the sand
Wow! This worked wonders for me! Absolutely insane night and day difference. Thanks so much! I knew it had to be something with the terrain settings, funny enough just lowering one setting was the solution. Thank you so much for sharing
Same problem on 3090!
Adjusted the settings deformable terrain quality from extreme to ultra and now works fine 100+ fps. GREAT.
Hi guys ,
it seems the latest drivers 531.41 for Nvidia cards is the problem.
rolling back to 531.29 completely solved the problem for me , no more stuttering in dune area (even with Extreme parameters !)
What’s with the FPS dropping to single digits in the deep sand during races?
@Leopard_of_Fire I thiiink those are by design. With a bunch of graphic settings turned up those specks gleam in the light like when sun hits a shiny piece of rock just right.
Turning terrain deformation completely off immediately solved the framerate issues, excellent call there!
Good to hear it’s just a driver issue, hopefully one which is fixed soon.
I can confirm that rolling back to an older driver version fixes the stuttering issues completely!
isn’t it funny that a dedicated, brand new and especially for forza horizon 5 recommended driver causes this weird performance hickups ?
Same problem with 4090, 13600K and 32 GB RAM.
@ Merkurio_92 : try 531.29 , that fixed the stuttering issue for me.
On PC it doesn’t even start. At least I can’t even enter the game after synchronizing the data the game closes 1 minute later without actually entering… a disaster
did you have CheatEngine or WeMod or anything similar opened while run the game?
Game will automatically shut down if it detects them
As far as I know and see, I don’t have any of those programs.
Same issue on 4090, 531.41
it’s not PG’s fault this time. Nvidia released a totally broken driver. roll back to 531.29 and the stuttering will be gone.
Shhh, far easier to rant and curse and blame pgg instead of reading a few posts up for a fix.
