I installed the full game yesterday after playing the demo and I’m experiencing a very odd behavior: the Xbox One controller input speed is not consistent across different actions / screens on the game.
Where it works normally:
To drive the car
World map
on the screen where we can select “My Cars” and all the other stuff like Tunning, Desigs, etc
Where it’s impossible to use:
Right after the initial loading where we see the 3 buttons (Continue, Options, Exit). If I use either the analog or normal pad trying to go to “Options”, it will move too fast and skips to the last option.
On any of the settings screen. Is just impossible to navigate, ONE press on any analog/normal pad will jump 3 to 5 itens. Same with the LT/LB buttons to change the screen
On any internal screen like Fine Tuning, Decals, Paint, Upgrades, Character customization, etc.
Details:
This behavior doesn’t happen on FH3 neither on the FH4 Demo
I restarted the PC after game install, no difference.
I disabled RTS overlays and also NVIDIA overlays, no difference.
I disabled G-Sync, no difference
Changed the game from fullscreen to windowed, no difference.
The issue happens whenever the controller is connected via USB or Bluetooth.
Updated the Controller firmware, no change.
Ran the Windows controller calibration tool, no change.
My Setup
Windows 10 Pro 1709 build 16299.371 (waiting MS to fix their issues to update)
I7 8700K, 16Gb ram, game installed on SSD
Oficial Xbox One controller (latest version, with Bluetooth)
Dell 27’’ 144hz g-sync display connected via DP. Second monitor 24’’ 60hz via DVI.
Nvidia GTX 980 TI with driver 397.93 (latest drivers are not good, doubt this is display driver related anyways)
Any clue / suggestion is appreciated, and it’s specially odd that this doesn’t happen on the Demo.
I’m having this same issue, it’s pretty damn annoying. I tend to just use my mouse on the menu… I’ve tried everything that you tried, to no avail. Maybe, if they see that other people are having this issue, they will look into it.
So, after scanning my PC trying to find something, I noted on my Add / Remove Programs a little tool called “VJoy Virtual Joystick Driver”.
I don’t even remember when I installed this little guy and for what, but looks like he was the issue as after removing him my controller now is working normally!
This idea came after seeing another user with a similar issue caused by some other controller driver/tool, so just check all “controller” or “joystick” tools you may have installed if you find some related issue.
Yeah, I’m using the keyboard to navigate on these sections where the controller is impossible to use, but that’s really annoying.
I decided to test this with my old Xbox 360 controller and the same issue exists.
Also, I decided to open FH3 to check and now FH3 has the SAME ISSUE!
For a second I thought it was then something else that broke it so I tested in other games / apps like Steam Big Picture mode and Monster Hunter: World, but neither have issues, the controller works flawless.
So it MUST be something related to FH4 that also started to affect FH3!
Because I didn’t recently installed anything else on my computer, I don’t have Windows Updated set to auto-update, I didn’t updated any driver or anything recently, the only thing installed was FH4 and now affects FH3 too.
Is there someone using the Xbox Controller normally on PC with FH4? Any lights to what’s going on?
This is super frustrating.
PS: why is my account “tagged for moderation” on each reply? I just logged in into this forum using my MS account, what’s going on? Super annoying.
