Hello Everyone,
This is my first experience of a Forza game, and I have to say, so far it has not been a good one at all.

Firstly, I mean I know M$oft, but that windows store is a complete joke! I have been running Win10 for over a year now and I have completely avoided using the appstore due to having to have firewall on and BS like that. I dont want an appstore on my PC thank you very much.

Anyway I am a major petrol head and have been simming on PC for years, iRacing, rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, Pcars 2 all run flawlessly and are beautiful sims in their own rights. So I see Forza 7 on PC now (I dont have Xbox) and thought ok, nice I’ll give that a go. It would be nice to have a less intense experience that I can just sit back and use my PS controller, rather that getting the wheel, pedals and head-tracking setup.

So I took the plunge, got the appstore up and running, I thought what the hell how bad can it be? (If only I had known!) I bought the £80 Ultimate version and feel pretty stupid right now, in fact downright conned!

I downloaded the game 1st time on the 1st attempt, which judging by these forums is a rare thing! That took about 12hours.

I then started the game, all good, watch the intro movie, then you get the scene in the garage you see male & female characters walking and the announcer say’s you have a decision to make, the first one is who are you?

At that point I just get a black screen with rock music in the background. I cant do anything by pressing all controller buttons or any on the keyboard.
I tried adjusting various settings in the Radeon settings AA,AF,Crossfire on/off, frame pacing on/off, framerate control on/off, V-sync/Enhanced sync on/off. Nothing made any difference, I just get the black screen after the intro.

At this point I have also reset the app a number of times and re–installed all the xbox apps,and yes the xbox services are running.

So I decide to uninstall and redownload 100GB! What a palava (Urban Dictionary: Palava) that turned into.

1st attempt stopped after about 20gig, no matter what I do it wont carry on!

2nd attempt ok this goes better I get to 96. whatever GB and that should be all of it right? No, wrong. It kept on going, after 24hrs downloading i was at 177GB.

Shortly after that it did actually finish at around 180+GB. That is just ridiculous! It’s like it downloaded it twice or something, what the hell is up with that? Thank god I dont have restricted downloads or I would be shafted!

Ok, so now I can fire it up again and guess what? Thats right, same as before. Get to watch the intro (very bored of this now) and then black screen when asked who I am. Very Frustrating. All you can do is close the window or alt-F4 if full screen.

I have also tried flicking between fullscreen and windowed (Alt-Enter) makes no difference. I have also tried as above virtually every combination of settings in my Radeon settings. nothing makes the slightest difference. Intro fine, then black screen. Have also tried eyefinity on/off and 1080P,1440P,2160P single screen resolutions as well as monster triple screen ones!

Also the latest update does not fix this issue for me.

My PC specs:

Ryzen 1700 @3.9Ghz
32GB G.Skill Trident Z @3066Mhz
2 x Vega 64 Crossfire

Forza 7 installed on E: drive SSD

Does anyone have any suggestions? My patience is seriously running out on this £80 black screen simulator.

I will have to consider getting a refund very soon.

same issue here. tried everything but not working.
indeed the worst online game purchasing experience ever!
if they’re not releasing any patch for this tomorrow i will be looking for refund too

I think the game doesn’t like to be installed on other drives besides C: , it was the same back in Forza Horizon 3.

Try turning off G-Sync. This fixed a similar issue for me.

Current Known Issues state that:

“Players won’t be able to use G-sync if they have the Nvidia 385.69 drivers installed. Players will want to install the 385.41 drivers to use G-sync.”

But, I’m guessing that anything after 385.69 won’t work also because i’m on 387.78.

Give that a try and try reverting your drivers if you want to use G-Sync

Hey Everyone. I wanted to post back here my solution to get this game working eventually!

You have to go into privacy settings and make sure that anything that has either xbox app, store app, or forza7 in it to make sure they are enabled. Like background apps for instance. As long as those 3 apps have all the access they need in privacy settings it will get past the intro.

Now I am actually able to play the game, got to say I am really enjoying it. Plays very nicely on my PS3 dual shock controller. Exactly what I wanted it for. Now bring on the updates!

That did not work for me ether reset the all the apps, you do not have any more suggestions
