The wheel choice has started to improve in the series with the addition of rims from Rotiform, ADV1 etc and now even greater is the inclusion of (admittedly not many) centre lock racing wheels. They’re great for adding that extra realism to my race replica paints. Hopefully T10 will add more but here is my gripe; Why on earth can we not paint the centre and barrel individually? Ok some split rims are painted one solid colour but for the best part split rims have a painted centre and polished rim. It pains me to not be able to do this, I want anodised blue centres with chrome lips etc, etc. Surely it wouldn’t be difficult to implement this into the paint editor. If I remember right there has been the odd car that did it by accident in the past, Citroen DS3 racing? When all is said and done this should be a feature anyway but that’s just my opinion.
It could be a lot more difficult than you think. Yes it would be nice, but it’s not a priority. Especially when they have bugs to fix.
Best bet is to post in the wishlist thread.
I’ve posted it there mate, fancied a gripe coz it through a spanner in the works when I was painting a complete MOMO 935/78 last night. It may not be a priority for you but for us painters that strive for perfect accuracy when painting our race replicas it’s more than frustrating. Besides the 'wish lists ’ are that rammed my thoughts are more likely to be seen here. It would be nice if someone who has an insight into programming to enlighten us not so clued up as to why it would be so difficult to allow only the centres of splits to be painted.
there’s still a copy paste painting code bug from FH3 with one rim where you can paint the center and outside in different color. but it gets old fast with only one.
It particularly annoys me when the part of the rim it allows you to colour is the tiniest bit. Here’s a huge solid white plate of a wheel… you only get to change the thin outer edge. Seriously?
The Volk aero yeah? That’s what done me last night when painting my MOMO imsa camel GT rep. Needed the opposite, polished rim with red aero disc. Would be nice to add vinyl to the disc to suite whatever car your painting. Could be a BBS, Ronal etc. But then maybe RAYS engineering might not like that
I am a painter and know very well the ins and outs of the editor, and it’s failings. When i say it is not a priority, i mean for Turn 10, the people who actually make the game. If it’s not a priority for them it’s not getting fixed. As we all are well aware by now, painting is being left to die a slow lingering death. Hardly any credits for your work, no stats on painting, no storefronts, and an auction house that’s pretty useless.
All that suggests painting is not a priority in Turn 10’s eyes. They’ve given us the basic tools to put designs on cars, so away we go. That’s the best we’re gonna get i think.
Yeah your right mate, after the pinnacle that was FM4 its been a downward spiral. Its a shame, wonder how many painters have thrown in the towel? My guess would be a fair few.
As stagnant as the paint editor has gotten are there any games out on console that have equaled or surpassed forza in the livery editor department?
Just curious
The new NFS games have a straight up better livery editor. You can choose different materials for your “vinyl” pieces, stick them onto the windows, and you can paint front and rear wheels separately. Multi-piece wheels also have separate primary/secondary paint areas. Also a much bigger selection of manufacturer logos.
The only issue is a low limit to both the number of vinyl pieces you can put on a car, but also to the number of designs you can save. However, the same saved design can be used across multiple cars.
Not sure about that one, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get progress.
Sadly i think that’s what it’ll take at this point. Some serious competition for Turn 10 to start delivering the goods.
I don’t think it’s that hard to change for T10.
This is what happens when you buy the Carrera 2.7 RS and change the wheels (it has original colored wheels). I think it looks great.
Just to bad when you exit the tuning section the wheels turn completely red again.
lol^ in FH3 they didnt change back when going back to the menus. They stayed two toned if i remember correctly.
