BEEN WONDERING THIS FOR A WHILE NOW SO THOUGHT ID ASK YOU GUYS… SORRY IF THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN ASKED AND ANSWERED
WHEN PAINTING YOUR CAR, THE WHEELS INPARTICULARLY, ARE THERE ANY WAYS TO PAINT THE CENTRES ALONE… LEAVING THIS LIP STILL CHROME?
OR ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC WHEELS THAT WILL LET YOU DO THIS?
BEEN BUGGING ME OVER MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF THE GAME AND IM JUST THINKING IF I MAY BE MISSING SOMETHING REALLY SIMPLE
CHEERS!
If I’m not wrong… I think starting at FH4 the wheels were made specifically different to paint (compares to FH3)
To answer your questions, if you’ll be sharing your designs, I think you may need to know each paint-able area of groups for each rims, but you may not need to… if you only going to use it for yourself at one specific rim model…
I don’t know about XBOX but I’m using PC when playing, in PC… after you pick your rims, go to paint menu, and then navigate to rims and then press X to open advance painting menu…
The reason why I think you may need to know each rims paint-able areas was because it’s different from one to another models, some have at minimal 2 separate paint-able areas and 2 or more rims have 5 paint-able areas as follows;
Paint Group 1
Paint Group 2
Paint Group 3
Inner Barrel
Outer lip
The inner barrel and outer lip groups are mostly there for most of the rims models, some models (like stock rims) doesn’t have outer lip group but instead it’s located or known as the Paint Group 1…
Now the problem (when sharing designs) is that groups allocations for some rims models were wrong or backwards, the Paint Group 1 is generally the main area to paint, but the Paint Group 2 and 3 for some models were backwards compatible…
For example; if the rims are 3 pieces models, the Paint Group 1 and 2 and the outer lip are the ones needs attention the most, some times we need to paint with bright color in the Paint Group 2 to match the outer lip, but then because of that… in some other rims models, this Paint Group 2 models appears as their outer lip or as the Paint Group 3 areas
Like this one 4 spoke rims I personally like, I want to paint the group 1 with gold and the group 2 stays black (or paint it black) as it is, but if I do that, that will not look right when anyone whom using my design want to use a different rims, when they need the matching color to their outer lip, it will shown as black because I painted it in the 1st place, or it will be shown to bright and shinny to match their outer lip if I leave it unpainted…
So basically… all you need to do as you asked the outer lip specifically, I’d recommend to leave the outer lip area unpainted, otherwise if you paint it with chrome color, it will shown as chrome in some other rims models when they don’t need to be painted
And one more thing… I personally don’t use chrome for outer lip but instead with aluminum or steel semi gloss or brushed, because the chrome (or default unpainted outter lip area) are just too shinny in reflections and therefore it doesn’t look chrome to me but instead it looks like black or dark stainless steel especially outside on mid day in summer…
I personally hope that the devs would make some changes to this painting rims dilemma when sharing designs, I hope they would separate painting rims from shared wraps designs so anyone who uses them can have the freedom to what color their rims would match the shared wrap designs, just locked everything else but the rims (and perhaps the windows tinting as well)
So I hope that covers everything when painting rims
The best way to do it is to paint the separate colours, and then share a tune with the rims on it. Just make sure that your tuning skills are good enough for that car. I did the Lightning McQueen yellow rims, red centre then shared a tune. It is actually the fastest tune anyway from all the ones that I tried.
THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH FELLAS
A LOT OF INFORMATION THERE AND ITS APPRECIATED
UNFORTUNATELY THOUGH ON THE XBOX, THIS CANNOT BE DONE
THERE ARE NO EXTRA OPTIONS WITHIN THE PAINT MENU IN THE WHEELS SECTION AT ALL
ILL JUST HAVE TO LEAVE THE WHEELS STOCK FOR NOW SO YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN COLOUR
CHEERS!
I play the XBox Version. Not all the wheel rims have the options, just some of them. You press X.
