Other players/AI engine sounds range

We all know engines can be excruciatingly loud. They can be heard for miles. It’s the reason my city doesn’t have a race track. Noise concerns.

Yet you can barely hear other player’s cars, even if they are right next to you.

The environment would be so much more immersive if the audio ranges for engine sounds were even remotely more accurate. I should be able to hear another player’s loud racing engine even if it’s on the opposite side of the track as me.

And also your own engine sounds drown out every other sound, including other cars, which only compounds the situation and makes it worse. If I’m going full throttle neck and neck with someone, I’m going to hear their car too.

Not every car of course. Obviously it would depend on the exhaust. But in general and especially with racing exhaust, the ranges/falloffs need some serious attention.

The world feels dead even with people around because you simply can’t hear them.

I just made a reply about this. You are 100% correct. But it’s not all lost, this game you can tune the sound to your liking.

I turned opponent cars to 100% volume, and every other sound to 50%. I can hear cars on the opposite side of the track. It’s wonderful. Try it.
