Opinion on bathurst wall riding

So currently Bathurst is unlike any other track in the game because you can make contact with wall and it doesnt invalidate your laps. In addition there are a few spots where you can wall ride to pass easy, or gain advantage with no penalty calculation. Im just wondering what everyone thinks about this?

I get its the nature of the track, and wall riding has been proven to be a viable strategy in real life racing on the last lap( which then gets banned after).

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

I’m curious to see that.

I think gaining advantage by wall-riding should not be allowed.

Pretty track. Awesome races irl. Great races on other sims.

But Forza? Good hotlapping track. Poor for racing.

It’s not a track for casual play. Too narrow, not enough run off, lots of places that require strong weight transfer fundamentals.

Might make for good races in-game if they stick slow, high-grip spec cars on it. Something like the Ginetta Jrs.

Easy skip for now when it pops up on the current hopper lists.

He probably means this: |Reddit| I found an exploit on bathus

V8 supercars aren’t slow and high grip enough for you?

Unless I missed something, that video is titled “Bathurst Has A Wall Riding Problem in Forza Motorsport” but I did not see any footage in it showing a wall-riding problem.

The video’s first (poor) example of “wall-riding” is shown in Rivals mode, but their lap got dirtied/invalidated from it, so there was no leaderboard advantage gained.

When a couple of other cars scraped along walls during the race in this video, they did not appear to gain time from it.

If hitting a wall loses time in a race, I can understand it not being penalized just like exceeding track limits doesn’t necessarily get penalized when it gains no time.

Losing time from hitting a wall is not a “wall-riding problem” - hitting walls should lose time.
It’s a “wall-riding problem” if it gains time/advantage.

1:12 - he goes into The Cutting behind the ghost, rides the wall and then comes out well ahead of it. Doesn’t matter if it was in Rivals and got a dirty lap. It’s a clear exploit. Just like wall riding was in FH and they fixed that. People will use this in MP if they can.

I saw that. It’d be more convincing to see someone gaining an un-penalized (or under-penalized) advantage from it during a multiplayer race.

Even the Reddit video clip that was linked above is a bit questionable as it stops before the pop-up for a penalty might have eventually displayed (sometimes they take a while to calculate).

I think it warrants further official testing & inspection, and if there is indeed an actual wall-riding exploit, I’m all in favor of fixing/removing it. :+1:

You get a dirty time but no penalty for track limits. Getting around the corner quicker than you should be able to is already a big enough advantage. GT7 had the same problem with High Speed Ring.

I understand what a wall-riding exploit is.
I agree that wall-riding exploits should be fixed/removed.
I’m not saying there’s no possibility that FM currently has any wall-riding exploits.
I’m only saying that the videos shown here so far are not very convincing evidence of wall-riding exploits in FM.

I’ll get footage doing it tonight. It’s really useful for passing drivers that block on the straight, which seems to be what allot are doing for some reason.

If you post convincing evidence of an exploit in the Troubleshooting Hub too, I’ll vote. :ballot_box_with_check:

Easy pass(especially lap1 congestion there you can easily pass 5 ppl ) no penalty Nd sometimes it doesnt even mark ur lap as invalid.(as is the case with this vid)

Nice. :+1:

It might sound nit-picky, but that video is from a multiplayer practice session, not a race or qualifying session, so actual race results were not affected.

Like many issues reported in the Troubleshooting Hub, I’m guessing the support staff will want it to be as undeniably clear & reproducible as possible in order to escalate it internally.

Hopefully it gets high-priority attention for a fast fix.

Ill get one in a race in a bit. But it def saves 1.5-3 seconds if you hit it just right at full speed. And it never grants a time penalty or even starts to calculate. Even in mp races

They should remove the wall magnetism/slowdown and just add a huge penalty for it.

It works in races without getting a penalty.
Have seen it on this particular turn a few times in the past days and none of the drivers got penalized.

There is also a wall bounce further up the track (double left before the downward chicane) that saves a few tenths without a penalty.

Way to use the whole track! Could have been a little smoother on the initial contact with the wall. Really maximize the speed of the exploit. But other than that, I give the player 4 Ross Chastains out of 5! Next time, really nail that initial contact and bury the throttle more!
