Open "ghosting" when it doesn't quite work makes racing worse

not a moan or rant, a considered opinion

when racing in open, I think people bank on the idea that “high-speed collision ghosting” is going to work

thing is, it doesn’t always and I can’t see what makes it fail, not clearly anyway

the problem with assuming it’ll happen is coming up fast behind someone, for exmaple at a corner (where else?) means when it fails the unfortunate person in front gets a shove before the ghosting kicks in

prompt barrier-hitting slow-down with extra slow-down imposed most of the time due to hitting a wall

anyone else see this?

thoughts?

I think an additional issue is that at corners it allows much more of a “oh it was just clumsy driving”, though I suppose that requires understanding exactly how to make it happen

everything about open is unrealistic and inconsistently enforced
