FAQ: Is there an end date for the beta? TBA. Will it run on AMD systems? Yes, if your AMD system is Windows 10 x64 with equivalent performance to the Intel chipsets named above. Can I designate the install location? Before downloading Apex, connect your preferred physical internal or external drive to your PC (the destination cannot be a different mapped drive on your C disk). Then to set the destination drive for Win10 apps, press Start > Settings > System > Storage > Save Locations > New apps will be saved to: and set your destination drive. Then download and install Apex. Otherwise, the default is to save to C:…LocalAppData\Packages.
Holy computer specs! They are asking for a high end gaming pc just for recomended specs.
Also my thoughts are they need to get away from the idea of 60fps for pc. Gaming monitors are capable of much higher frame rates. I wonder if they have this capped at 60 or those are the suggested settings to reach 60. If it is capped at 60 this is quite dissapointing as a high end monitor wont even be utilized. Steady frame rates and high frame rates are very important in racing games. Recently maxed out the settings on my pc and could only get 40fps in a racing game… could barely race i was missing too much of the track. Went back to what i normally run it at and get a steady 180+fps and was much more enjoyable even though i was at much lower video settings.
What is the point of wasting effort porting this to PC if there is no MP and no wheel support? Have Turn 10 never played a game on PC? We don’t take kindly being force to use substandard hardware… Kind of the whole point of PC gaming in general…
If you bear in mind that the Forza 6 has pre-baked shadows, which are equivalent to the lowest shadow settings for the PC next to completely disabled… you really expect this game to have stupidly low requirements? Those settings are basically a standard now. Recommended 970 with 980Ti for anything above 1080p.
In any case, I’m definitely eager to try this. Wanted to have a go at Forza title for a long while now.
I don’t know these answers yet but I’ll update the FAQ and first post when the info is confirmed. For #3 I think you’re only going to find it at the Windows Store, but whether it’s the same link we’ve seen already or a different link for the beta, I don’t know yet.
These specs aren’t that high end for 1080p. I have a 965M and I think I will not have any issues running at 60fps. Usually in the graphics settings you can turn down certain things like the anti aliasing to make it run faster on lower end systems. If you can run Project Cars you should be fine. There are various guides on the internet about tweaking your settings and explaining what they mean. I work in IT and am a PC gamer. I would be happy to help with any issues if you post about them or send me a PM. Looks like the AMD FX 8350 is about the same as the Intel i7 3820 which is a Sandy Bridge from q1 2012. It will not be on Steam or Origin . You can stop asking. Microsoft does not sell their games on those services with the exception of Flight Simulator X which has been sold to a third party developer.
Just look at how unoptimized/broken every UWP game MS has released has been though. The specs are high because they are most likely using brute force instead of optimizing for the PC platform properly.
The Graphics settings leaked earlier appear to be nothing more than T10 enabling what would be the hidden console menu.
Quantum break isnt fixable due to engine design choices for the xbox one then shoe horned onto PC with little regard.
Gears, LOL.
Killer instinct framerate problems (I do believe these are solved now though).
I like the fact they mention wheel support will come. The question I need to know is: will it be the same wheel support as on xbox, or are they going to do it properly? see Dirt Rally for reference where they listened and rewrote their entire FFB to behave properly like every sim on PC.
I will wait on this until this is answered. After playing DR and feeling what I have been missing while playing Forza games, I don’t think I will even waste my time.
I sincerely doubt they will limit to only xbox one wheels. The announcement specifically says “wheel support is coming to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and Turn 10 is busy working to ensure that Apex delivers the kind of wheel support, performance, and features that racing fans expect from a range of available hardware.”
If that doesn’t mean G25/G27, Fanatec, Thrustmaster, etc. support, I don’t know what then.
