Hello fellow Forza horizon folks, I was wondering if anyone was experiencing a shortage of online players in your online gameplay far as free roaming goes. I’ve only been able to see at most 5 players in the free roaming servers i’m on while cruising around. Seems like the previous Forza horizon versions had way more players in the servers than this one. I miss being able to drive around and see over 15+ online drivers racing around and what not. I can’t be the only one noticing this.
You are not alone Killuminati… well, you are in a way, I guess. I have the same issue and sometimes a quick check for online players by filtering the map shows no one at all (…hence the loneliness). In FH4 the place was swarming with others during the times I was playing - now? …it’s like I’m on my own with no random interactions with others. I’m still having issues with there being no local traffic either. This has improved of late, but it’s still pretty sparse. It’s like the developers at PGG have used the same game engine and quota of local traffic as they did for Great Britain in FH4, but the Mexico map is three times bigger.
Just bought the game abd this is the first big difference from FH4. I actually wish they sandwiched more players into less servers and turned on collision for some engagement.
I’ve not noticed to much of a difference between FH4 and FH5 in terms of loneliness but then again the Oceania servers are scarce at the best of times anyway.
They disabled collisions because people could accidentally or intentionally grief players and break their 1 million plus skill chains, push them out of drift zones and just be a general pest.
What I’ve never understood with the always online aspect is, why doesn’t the servers put you in lobbies with your friends or club mates? We have 5-7 friends that play every night, why wont the game go ahead and put us in the same lobby? This game does a fine job of trying to keep us apart!!
Even when there are people in freeroam, everyone is invisible so you can’t see other players liveries and designs…etc…
But most of the time lately I’m in session with maybe 4-5 others, and passing by their ghost/white floating name isn’t overly immersive.
Truthfully the no interaction is kinda killing the game for me, sadly… I thought you’d be able to chat to people, (like GTA Online, for example) the pre-made forza statements get really stale fast, and you can’t even thank a teammate or chirp an opponent cause there is no real way to do so.
I wish they had collisions enabled, but like other games (again, GTA Online, for example) you can choose to make yourself off radar for the times you wanna be left alone… giving no choice really destroys any hope of meaningful online interaction with others.
Whilst FH4 had way more online players actually on the map whereas FH5 has virtually none, the thing that completely killed proper online interaction was the introduction of Quickchat and now Forza Link.
NOBODY actually chats or gets interactive - they just use random pre-input messages ( usually boring as and - to who exactly ? ) and usually try to hide whenever you get remotely close.
I’ve said it before - Fh4 was billed as going to be the most interactive game yet but failed miserably and FH5 is ten times worse.
There’s more people on FH3 , 2 and even still 1 still actually online and chatting than in either of these last two incarnations combined.
If you want interaction and still have those games, it’s a better feeling place to be .
Totally - who are these random messages even meant for anyway ? I’ve seen quickchats appear in FH4 and when I look at the map they’re on the complete opposite side !!!
Most of these are just toxic anyway - hence why I’ve never used (and never will) in FH4 or 5. Sorry if somebody says a good thing once in a while but I will never respond.
Sadly, FH3 online doesn’t work for me and PGG doesn’t care about fixing it anymore. This probably goes for many other people too. The most fun I have with other players outside of events is when waiting for a playground games to start.
That’s odd - FH3 still works for me every time. FH2 has a few issues with online but it usually just takes a bit of waiting.
Still the only places though where you can get on the mic , interact , chat or even just listen to others chatting. Makes you feel you’re part of something other than the cold, barren world of FH4 & 5.
Talking of thanking people - I got the last treasure hunt location because I was aimlessly hunting round the circle after unlocking the riddle with no idea where the treasure was.
Thankfully a really helpful player had found it and kept honking his horn till I got to him - and the treasure. Sadly there was no good quickchat available to use to thank him but Thanks anyway if you happen to be reading this and remember the session. Cheers Mate.
The actual online freeroam is pretty boring and empty at a certain point due the lack of players and no stimulation to interact with others, I prefer playing in single player because is more fun and alive. Horizon 4 gave a better experience with more player in sessions and the horizon live where I could like 25 or more players at the same time…
I think improving a little bit some features like the quick chat more likely to the quick chat of rocket league with more options, an a horizon arcade notification like horizon 4, win some credits with quick 1v1 races (if doesn’t exists 'cause I never noticed that I win credits doing it) and obviously more players in sessions would be a nicer and vivid experience in my opinion
Anyway, the game still having 3 months of release so it’s kinda early to complain… Or not?
Everything said by y’all is definitely understandable and how I have felt. I do wish the the developers would make the game more interactive between players and find a way to where we can chat freely instead of the premade quick talk phrases put in place. It’d be cool to call out for meetups races, etc … Just let us interact and feel like we all are there together. Not limit the talk to pre made quick talks… Amongst the other things as well that y’all have mentioned far as making it seem more like we aint alone.
That must be great, I always have at least one other player in the arcade not doing anything, so I have to put in twice as much effort if I want to complete it.
