In horizon 4 online race was based on time, not if you came first. Like for example you start last in line, and if you was right behind the one first in line when you pasted the finish line you would win bec the time diff vs 1st and last in starting posion.
Is it still like this in horizon 5 or is it first accross the line no mather starting posision?
Was that the case? I always assumed it was just due to lag when you finished 2nd ended up finishing first for example.

Yeah, starting position never had anything to do with it.
In fh4 it did, and you know for a fact thats not the case in 5 ?
I know for a fact that it DIDN’T in FH4.

And i know for a fact that it did
I believe in FH4 there was a player sync issue whereby players could desync themselves from other players by up to 12 seconds.
Basically imagine you’re racing and everyone is 12 seconds ahead of you so that the road is empty and you have no challenge passing anyone. However everyone else can still see you as if there was no sync issue.
Technically this could be what you’re referring to as it would be based on the players time. You all may also recall in FH4 how sometimes you visibly came first but for some unknown reason someone bet you on the final leaderboard.
I’m not sure whether this is still a thing in FH5 as they removed ranked racing. In saying this I haven’t noticed it in FH5 so it may have changed? Then again I never have close races with anyone as again ranked racing doesn’t exist so I’m never racing anyone around my skill level. Maybe it still exists??? IDK
Then find any evidence or explanation to back it up. As the others said, there were desync/lag issues, and the total race time is what determined position, but there was never any kind of adjustment for starting position. Total race time starts at the same time for everyone, except for desync issues.

In fh4 i had it happen many times. So lets say first position in starting line is 0.000 sec second is 0.020 third is 0.040 and so on, that means that if you started last you need to be next to or bumber to bumber with first car in line, at the finnish line to even notice it. But it was a fair system to make up the gap from first to last. But how lazy devs are in fh5 i doubt it still in use cus i never seen it
And where did you come up with that? PGG themselves have said it was desync issues, you think you know better?
Are you talking about the bug that was consol vs pc, where pc users got a bit of headstart? I know bec it was talked about alot when people who won came second and people who got second came first but it was only when the gap was less then half a second.
You “know” because some people had a wild unproven theory? Sorry, things don’t work like that.
I know bec i saw it happen many times and back then it was a fact as to why it happend, to bad the old forum is gone or you could see the post for your self. Bec you never heard of it,does not mean it make your claim a fact
No need to go back and forth. It’s probably the desync issue I mentioned earlier. Is it still a thing in FH5? Who knows, I haven’t noticed it.
Yes, in fh5 I have finished occasionally behind others in the trial and coops but it counted as first place.
Then I suspect they have carried across the desync issue from FH4 during their copy/paste.
Ranked would be very nice in this game, just ban any OP cars beforehand and change the rank up system a little since that seemed to be a common issue people had in FH4 ranked.
