Does anyone else find the A.I on this game ridiculous compared to horizon 2, doesn’t matter what level its on, the first 3 cars disappear and if your lucky you can catch them on the last lap, also spend more time getting punted off by the A.I or blocked by them. the handling of the cars feel awkward and sometimes undriveable, compared to horizon 2 it feels like the fun has been sucked out of this game. Maybe I’m just having a bad day
I’ve set difficulty to PRO with some other custom settings. Yes, I found AI very aggressive and very difficult to beat. The only way I found to bet lead cars is to perform a kamikaze move at the start of the race that puts you near the front and then spend the next few laps to beat the AI in first, so it is doable . Also, I raised the race lap count to 3 so I can catch up, as I think 2 laps is too short to do so.
Sounds like youre using an uncompetitive car if youre losing on all difficulty settings. The pi rating although it may show you are the same doesnt necessarily mean they are equal performance wise. If youre going to be doing offroad races make sure its an offroad car. If its a mix of on an offroad upgrade and tune the cars to suit whatever the track leans more towards. Offroad racing requires higher and softer suspension settings than on road. If its a speed track make sure you have more power, if its twisty obviously handling is more important. Youll see a big difference with every car just by adjusting the tune.
The AI is much more competitive in lower classes. I like to race in those anyway but a half decent tune will get you wins on any difficulty in c or even b class. The drivatars get ridiculous in the higher classes. Hopefully it will be addressed in an update because everyone is complaining about it but for now it just is what it is.
The races are harder to win and the racing feels close to motorsports. My settings are on Pro with manual transmission, ABS on, Simulation Steering, race line off. Its hard for me to win sometimes but once I learn all the turns, I end up coming in 3rd or 1st most of the time. With ABS off, I lose all the time because its really hard. I stay away from hyper car races because those cars belong on the race track not on public roads.
I have to agree.I have all helpers, optimal line, brake guide, abs etc. turned off and drive on highly skilled i think it is called. But everything above is to hard without the best car and optimal tuning. Also the drivatars ram you or cheat on cuircut races. In motorsport games i could beat the AI on highest setting if i was driving perfectly without big mistakes but in FH3 it seems too hard.
The AI seem more aggresive. Even in freeroam in FH2 they’d move out the way normally if you were in their way but in FH3 I get ploughed alot.
No real issues here. Love the car feels. Feels almost as good as the real Forza with good tunes on the cars. The main issues are the same as they have been. AWD is too good. If you don’t use it and get the launch you are doomed. This trend is also happening in real life street racing
The AWD cars can put down way more power to the ground than RWD can.
Put AI on unbeatable and all assists off. Always finish 12th (with the lucky top 10 place) but good credits and XP + fans is unaffected anyway.
They should really fix this, it is kinda lame but no matter what difficulty setting you pick it always seem to result in a similar result. Winning races with easier AI vs losing races vs unbeatable AI = same thing.
They really shouldn’t tbh. This way you can set the difficulty to be as challenging as you like and just enjoy doing the best you can, rather than having to put the difficulty on something below your abilities just to guarantee you win every race.
That way the races are actually races, not just a passing challenge to overtake everyone within x laps or y miles.
Personally i’ve been playing on pro since i started, everything else is on hardest difficulty, including simulation steering etc. (except that i use manual without clutching).
Sometimes i feel that the AI is quite extreme, for instance i was running a perfect line corner with the one:1 and some random regera just blasts past me on the outer side, these AI tires are made of glue if you ask me
Other then that I don’t think it’s much of a problem to be honest, just pick the right car and setup for each race, i’m lvl 98 atm and only finished second once, and that was only because the game crashed in a championship and the race got counted as a loss
never bothered with unbeatable difficulty though, I’ve tried it a few times but they’re just mental then.
It takes a while to be able to beat top AI though. You have to learn the courses cold, so you could run them blindfolded. You need to know where you can and can’t cut corners and whatever “shortcut” you can muster, you need to know where you absolutely have to slow down a bit and where you can really bust loose. Then you have to get a great tune on the car and one that fits your driving style. Beating tough AI out of the box should be undoable until you really grasp every facet. It took me a long time in H2 to beat the unbeatable avatars and now I crush them. I figure it will be the same for H3. I haven’t played a whole lot yet but there is definitely a different feel from H2 and I haven’t found a car I really like yet or am totally comfortable with. Couple that with not knowing the tracks and yeah the AI is very tough. But with a few weeks or months of play we should all be mopping the floor with the AI.
After playing some more although I’m still beating them the ai has the same tendencies they had in forza 6. For some reason theyve decided to “tweak” the drivatars, they are certainly not the same type we saw in forza 5 and horizon 2.
I see the same kind of scipted races that 6 had and its not cool at all. The ai besides always blocking any available path always seem to have much better grip and faster acceleration, its certainly not from taking the fastest line through the corner either.
Since many people complained about this in 6 and ultimately nothing was done im going to assume the same for this game. Im all for difficult ai and close races but not when its done so cheesy. Although the drivatars had their issues in the beginning, id take the originals over this.
Yup, fake ass ai. They just hover and teleport around the road defying physics that your restricted to, to do so. All in the name of making them more difficult to beat. Difficulty isnt everything. Is it really that hard to have ai that are fast cuz they drive properly?
It seems to vary wildly for me. Sometimes the “unbeatable” robots drive like 98-year-old men, and on other occasions “expert” ones go like Lewis Hamilton.
I don’t understand why so many people are complaining about how they can’t beat “unbeatable” level drivatars, practice!
Well I complained they were too easy last time so blame me.
There is currently a very random difficulty spike / trough.
They need to fix it and then we can pick a difficulty with unbeatable proving a real but consistent challenge.
The op isnt complaining about unbeatable specifically its the way the drivatars are racing. Ive had the difficulty set to unbeatable from the beginning and have come in first every race, its just how the races unfold is what is troubling some people.
What big mek just said is true, some races unbeatable seem to be super easy, other races they’re much more difficult. Now this does depend on what car your using and if its tuned or not but that doesnt excuse whats going on.
In forza 6 many people had similiar issues on all difficulty settings. I myself had major issues with runaway drivatars putting up top 10 times with seemingly stock tuned cars, it was very frustrating.
Its not that bad I’m no Pro when it comes to racing, what I have found in most racing games is that you need to get moving fast and be aggressive, also learn racing lines, if you dont know them you’re going to find it a bit tough, but dont always stick to them. I’ve won quite a few races so it cant be that hard.
Agreed.
I also have my difficulties up and do rather well the entire race. However, the AI flies through corners and down straight aways at ungodly speeds. Definitely not how FH2 worked and that’s fine, but whatever this shit is, it’s kinda annoying.
