Night Time Issue

Some of you are SO weird. Keeping in mind how broken is lighting at night… clearly you dont drive on cockpit view lol. And you want to extend it??? oh god. No please.

I vote to keep things as they are. Yeah Eliminator at night is challenging. However it can make it more tactical by following the roads a lot more.

You obviously got triggered before you read everything I said. I started by saying eliminate night in eliminator right from the start.
Or did the fact someone had the audacity to agree with the OP trigger you?
OMG!!! Longer nights would completely ruin muh eliminators. And longer nights would also make many people happy.
Seriously, how hard would have been for you to start a post suggesting they turn off night in the eliminator? Probably less time than you spent getting triggered because someone suggested longer nights. The world don’t revolve around the eliminator.

It puts me off every time I come back to this game. Night time driving has such a culture around it yet isnt represented at all in this game. I cant even drive to the top of the mountain and back down without night time completely passing, its a joke.

It wouldnt be so bad if the ratio was like 20% night or something, but it seems like daytime lasts over an hour, yet night only lasts a few minutes. Its not just shorter than daytime, its basically non existent in comparison. As someone who is heavily into the jdm and classic street racing vibe, and as a fan of nfsu 1 and 2, this just feels like an insult tbh.

Just make it last at least 15 mins, constant daytime is so boring. Imagine if Horizon finally went to Japan and there is no night time, lol. Its a sick joke.

110% this !

Perhaps give us an option for night mode sort of like Need for Speed Heat?

Nighttime is indeed short and has been since FH1. At least it isn’t worse than The Crew 2’s night system which is REALLY short (like only 3-5 minutes).

Speaking of, what about functional digital clocks? I’m tired of seeing the default 12:00 system. FH1 had a dynamic digitized clock and it’s been static since FH2.

It actually does only last about four minutes in fh5. Such a shame.
Its just a shame there are no other decent open world driving games to move to. All the others are too arcadey.

I’ll just go back to assetto corsa with mods, I’ve learnt my lesson to not preoder Forza games now. Cant wait for Horizon in Japan to be constant daytime due to a small minority of legally blind people who cant see in Horizons extremely bright nights.

I’ve zero interest in more night time unless there’s a huge improvement in head light strength.

I’m always popping out in night to try a new drift tune and can’t see a blasted thing. It’s very irritating.

I could drive without any headlights at night in FH5. And would if they didn’t forcibly bolt on unwanted extraneous headlights to some of my old open wheeled racers.

Presumably because you’ve pulled up your Gamma so far that it actually neglects the actual darkness.

I suppose it’s not impossible, but in FH2 and FH3 the darkness was more problematic and it’s not like I suddenly started upping the Gamma to 11 when 4 hit.

I’ve toggled with my TV picture settings across the board. Very little visibility, headlights are weak.

Other than getting some close quarter picture shots I’m baffled as to why anyone would want to bother with night at all.

It’s very odd the way the graphics are so inconsistent from one user to another.

“It’s too bright.”

“It’s too dark.”

“Colors are all washed out.”

“Colors are all rainbow bleeding.”

…it’s almost like we all play with widely different systems, settings, and displays… Each set to the worst possible representation possible. Which we all deny. I tend to believe us and just have to wonder what is going on lol.

FWIW… I’ve never really had major graphics issues, maybe I’m aiming low with my bog standard old gen XBox 1 and generic knockoff big screen led in 1080p  Usually with average ambient room light. Night is not too dark (just WAY too short), day is not too bright, weather effects seem reasonable, headlights are passable (but I expect more, especially when I put full rally lights on a rig, the place should light up like daytime for miles lol).

Ah well, they aren’t going to fix it and honestly I’m getting bored of the game and lack of care, ok, apparent lack of care to give all involved a huge benefit of doubt. Maybe it’s time to find a new “hobby” ?

I fear that’s what it’s going to come down to in the end. The car industry is going into a direction I don’t like, by proxy the laws surrounding cars are going into a direction I don’t like, and even racing video games have been going into a direction I don’t like. I feel like my passion for cars, something I have been into since I was two years old, is being crushed out of me by idiocy and mediocrity.

I don’t like night driving how it is at the moment, they would have to change it before I want it.

Buy a wheel and try assetto corsa or raceroom
Lots of fun, variation and it isnt designed to cater to blind 6 year olds.

I’ve been replaying FH4 lately and it does indeed look better at night. The tail/brake lights are brighter, the headlights are brighter and the light looks more realistic. In fact all lights in FH4 night have more pop and stand out more as they should because the background scenery is dark as it should be. I swear there is something broken with the lighting at night in FH5. Unless it is an artistic choice by PG to swap the more realistic and natural darkness of 4 for the more “hollywood” day for night filter look of FH5. Seriously, Series X owners set up two identical blueprints in both games and use quick resume to switch between them. You’ll see what i mean.

Whoever did the game lighting got a lot of things wrong, there is just too little white light, especially if there is coloured lighting in place like at the pyramid locations, these areas look dull and not nice, with the orange and blue colours, but little white.Only using coloured lighting makes the lit area look dirty and dull, you have to mix coloured lighting in layers with white to get it looking good.

The people watching and cheering you along during races stand under and around small tents, some of the tents have only blue lighting inside, it looks just too dark and not nice to look at ,during cross country races especially. The main festival site is lit poorly, some areas suffer from overlighting because it is spaced wrong, and too bright.

I make a lot of night time custom races in Trackmania, it takes me sometimes more than a week just to do the lighting for a race, light is a calculation, the lamps have to be spread evenly at almost equal distances from each other to make it look nice, too close to each other and the area whites out, too far from each other and the lit area looks dull.

FH4 looks really nice at night time, but the night is criminally short like in this game. It looks like there is little hope of that changing, for someone like me who loves night time races, and cruising around the map in free roam, that is a real big disappointment.

There is also a weird contrast issue where the screen gets darker depending on what you’re looking at, usually during dawn or dusk hours. And they still haven’t really fixed the variable brightness issue between the different camera modes.

As for the short night cycle, I don’t really see a reason not to let people adjust it to their liking for freeroam solo. But night looks like trash now anyway.
