Night time is so ugly. Samsung Odyssey G9 57 inch

I would except the longer nights if only you folks could make it darker, right now it’s like driving in a can of GREY primer paint, It’s so ugly on this 57 inch. Daytime looks so great then nighttime comes along and spoils it. It’s super let down. Please give us the option to make the night time darker so everybody can tailor it to the own liking. Or just please make it darker. Please.

My guess is, this is how night time is in Mexico.

It would need to be an option. I hate the nights in Horizon as I play Eliminator a lot. Having it darker would make it even more challenging to play. i.e. crashing into trees and rocks that you can’t see.

Pretty sure that’s not how it is or why. I expect they went for a “mood” of night instead of actual darkness to keep it game playable. If they went with actual darkness the way the headlights are now nobody would be happy lol. I can’t see it changing, certainly not for FH5, probably not FH6, maybe not ever.

Tried adjusting your display settings? Game mode is inherently brighter so adjusting contrast and brightness at least may get it to be better for you. I imagine you have multiple video setting presets that you can use for day and night also.

Most of the newer LCDs have settings along the lines of “Live Color” (which I think is actually Sony specific) & “Advanced Color Enhancer”. I have a Sony Bravia XBR & in addition to black level adjustments for contrast, I’ve found the other two settings to have the most influence. HDR settings will also drive some of this, so it’s just a matter of playing with the calibration settings for what looks best for your setup. I’d also stay away from any auto-dimming settings you may have.

Hopefully they’ll realize that adjusting their own settings will probably be the best option rather than waiting for a software company to change their product effectively affecting hundreds of thousands of players.

I run RTX 4090 in full HDR, adjusting the contrast or brightness is a sellout or compromise and is not the solution. If they could get the night to look as good daytime, I think the world would beat a path to it’s door. But the primer gray is there, so those with the worst monitors can enjoy the game. That’s why it’s a cop out to old useless monitors. An option to change the nights sky with a slider to suit everybody it what’s needed. It’s not rocket science.

Good comments on the subject so far.
Cheers

This is a great idea that would solve a lot. :+1:

It’s an odd opinion to say my 4k hdr TV is one of the worst monitors since I don’t have a primer night.

Yeah I agree with the sentiments earlier in the thread. The nights are too bright, but headlights are way way too dark. I don’t want to navigate in a true night via whale oil lantern.

I think I have the same monitor (Odyssey g9 Neo) and glare can also be a concern at times. Most people don’t have full light control over their play area.
