We are in the middle of season 2 on FM5. Season 2 is scheduled to end the week FM6 releases. We’ll be taking a bit of break to get acclimated to the new game, and then starting on Season 3. I’m looking for drivers. Guys that want to race need to be aware of a few things.
We use a handicap system to create tight, hard fought racing over a long endurance race. We’ve had races where everyone was running within a second/lap of each other. The idea is for everyone to be competitive regardless of skill level.
We run longer races, generally 25 laps.
Cars guidelines are set in stone, no deviating.
Due to using handicaps and keeping everyone close together, some contact is expected. However, purposeful wrecking isn’t tolerated.
We run a caution/restart system.
Damage is always set to simulation
While everyone in the group is competitive and wants to win, we all value close racing more than just collecting wins. This is a key component of our league, enjoying hard fought battles on the track instead of running 25 hot laps by yourself.
If you’d like more info, check out our FB group. You can either search “MM Forza Spec League” or follow this link. MM Forza Spec League | Facebook
All the info for the league is in the pinned post. You can also see some video clips of races we have done, as well as all discussion surrounding the league. If you’re interested, and want to give it a go, you’re more than welcome to jump into some of the Season 2 races we are doing. We don’t lock the doors after race one of a season. Hope to see some of you guys on the group and online. If you’d like to join the FB group, just send a request. I’ll approve it as fast as possible.
No clue on cars yet for Season 3. Probably something cheaper than the GT cars. Season one was RWD American v8 under 600hp and over 3000 pounds. So I’d say something along those lines. We’ll have to wait and see what all FM6 has to offer.
There’s a post in there somewhere where I asked everyone to post their GT and car number. Go ahead and post in that thread, and I’ll get you set up.
For this season we are running on Tuesday nights at 10pm EST. However, that may change for next season. I’ll probably post a poll on the Facebook Group to see what works best for everyone.
I added everyone that sent requests today. Part time racers are totally fine. Only way a part time guy can’t race is if we have a full lobby of full time guys. However, I don’t foresee that being an issue with 24 player lobbies.
While on the FB page, check out the pinned post for a general set of rules for the league. Once this season (season 2) is completed next Tuesday, the pinned post will get updated with all the info for Season 3. There will be some discussion as to when to start Season 3, what car types to run, what night/time we race. Feel free to join in those discussions. I’ll also probably keep an updated roster under the pinned post for next season as well.
I should also mention, we have 25 members on the FB group. However, numerous guys haven’t been able to make all or even any of the races thus far. Don’t let the member count scare anyone off. I still have lots of space for new drivers.
Our last race for season 2 is this coming Tuesday. After that, lots of information and questions to the drivers will be posted on the FB group so set up Season 3 in a way that works best for everyone.
How do we know if we are excepted into the league? I joined the FB page but did not receive any feed back whether my gamer tag is part of the league and if my car #is available for me to use.
This league doesn’t do try outs, or anything of the like. Everyone is welcome. The only caveat to it is that I ask everyone to declare either full time driver or part time. We have some guys that can’t make all the races, so they’re considered to be part time. If we would run into a situation where we had 25 guys wanting to race, one of the part timers would need to back out to make sure all the full time guys get into the race.
We run a grip handicap system to keep the racing close regardless of the varied skill level in the room. We have our final Season 2 race tonight. After that, I will start making posts about season 3. We will have a thread for everyone to post there gamertag and car numbers. Veteran members will have first crack of their car numbers. If you look under the pinned post on the Facebook group, you’ll see a link to a Google Doc spreadsheet. This shows current point standings, gamertag and car numbers. A third tab will be added for Season 3 at a later date.
All of that said, if anyone would like to run with us tonight, you’re more than welcome. However, anyone that hasn’t ran with us before will have to run Group 2, which is the middle handicap group. Since we have guys fighting for a championship in points, and they are being handicapped, I can’t let a new guy that is especially good come in and take points away.
It looks like everyone that sent a request to join has been approved. My name is David Wright, Ken Wright is my co-admin and my uncle. Check out the pinned post, it’s pretty much up to date with the rules package. We have made some minor adjustments that are not reflected there, but nothing with the cars for season 2.
