New tracks on trial

Why would you put tracks we have never seen in the first trial and then the Cathedral circuit. Give us a chance to test them. Why is no thought ever given? Why? 1st place in 1st race. 2nd in 2nd race. It started me in dead last both times. Just think for others not as skilled as me. We almost lost.

Autocorrect on this forum is completely bonkers.

How dare they showcase new tracks which they seldom add to the game! I guess there’s always those players like yourself that complain when developers do good. How about saying thanks for the new tracks and leaving it at that…

Yeah. And what they shouldve done is added tracks from fh4 for the very first season of the game so that the players at the start of the game werent racing on tracks theyd never seen too

You guys know what I mean. Make it the time attack. Make it a seasonal. People drive poorly already on tracks they know on the trial. It’s just common sense. I got lucky, first try. Sorry I don’t want to do the trial 10 times. Sheesh.

I’m all for criticizing the game but this is just a bizarre hill to die on. People will drive like garbage either way, rain or shine, day and night, new track or old track. Just appreciate the fact that for once, PGG has tried to improve the game by not only adding new track layouts, but using them to spice up the Playlist too.

Maybe they should improve the actual racing and the flawed penalty system that gives the victim a slow down instead of the rammer rather than making more tracks that are more gifts to rammers because of all the walls and hairpins first. Get that under control before adding more tracks that lead to more bad behavior. It’s a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. PG refuses to do anything about it. I cannot race online if every time I come to a sharp turn or hairpin I’m hit by a missile from behind. They just don’t use their brakes at all. They come full speed. Then it gives me a slowdown. I didn’t do anything.:man_shrugging: I don’t know how anyone can deal with this and enjoy it. When they mess me up like that it’s over. Obviously sometimes a lot of times I can out run and out drive them. Sometimes my rhythm is wrecked and I’m just trying to get away from someone instead of concentrating on my lines. People with ADD hyper focus and when it’s broken like that it’s is extremely frustrating. Anyone with this condition would tell you that. Can’t you see PG’s priorities are all out of whack? I just want a casual racing game, is that sooo much to ask? They can do all the other things event labs etc… but don’t just completely ignore a huge flaw. Tracks with the layouts they added only make it worse. More unpunished ramming. More penalties for the innocent clean driver. They spend so many resources on everything but the racing for 2 years now. I will die on this hill. If you don’t care about this issue that’s ok. What is wrong with making it a time attack first or putting them in a seasonal championship. Let people get accustomed first. It’s not a new game so I don’t agree since all tracks are new first week of the game so what’s the difference now. Now we have time to practice a little. Next month put them in the trial. That would be thoughtful.

I’m a little confused now. Are you mad about new tracks on the Trial or are you mad that PGG is adding new tracks instead of fixing the online racing system?

Fix penalty system first than add all the tracks with all the hairpins you want. They do go overboard. FM tracks are not filled with hairpins. Yea some but not this many so close together.

I’m of two minds here. Can see both sides, I think, but then if I agree with both sides maybe I’m just confused

A new track for the Trial. Nice. People not knowing it ?

Some will, they’ll run it/them, several times before jumping into the Trial. I used to. Often even once I felt I knew the course well. Found it a good warm up and occasionally a reminder of tricky bits.

And of course some won’t, and couldn’t/wouldn’t change their “style” even if they did. Beyond hunting out the dog pile corners to perfect their bombing runs maybe. So, no difference, new track or old. imo.

Confession, I was lazy this time, didn’t prep for the Trial at all beyond loading up geistwriter’s great tune on the 2018 Camaro and doing some of the chores first to work the kinks outta the knuckles and knothead. First race was pretty decent, a surprise first dog pile corner, no surprise lol, and the usual AI and not-team member hijinks. Easy team win. Second race was just embarrassing, not sure I can blame the rubs and knocks, not entirely anyway. Team loss, big time. Third race, suddenly everyone was on Team Human and except for the runaway lead AI that nobody could catch. Nice clean racing, all driving well, nice passing, just all around pleasant and full team in top 7 finish places. Huge win. Satisfying end.

On the corners and walls and wall riding and such, did I see one section of track (and I can’t recall which race, last one maybe ? or where… ) with the breakable road edge barriers right in front of a wall ? Like so even if you went through the barrier all that would happen would be a minor collision slow down and wall ride around the curve at full speed ? Just curious if I imagined it

Linea Costera Sprint. This section is nuts. Rammers paradise. I can drive it but you need to slow down over and over.

I didn’t prepare either. I didn’t need to. I know how to drive because I’m playing since FM1. Not everyone is me. I only messed up the first hairpin. Another guy did at the same time. We made the same mistake and then he wants to take revenge for an accident :man_shrugging:. It actually ghosted both of us but that is wildly inconsistent. I got away and had enough space to slow down without getting hit this time. I didn’t hit any other walls after that.

Like you said people often drive poorly on the existing tracks so I experienced the same teammates as with other muscle car trials. They’re always a bit rougher. :person_shrugging:

To be fair, has anybody ever really committed every single track in a Horizon game to memory? I can understand memorizing the circuits because they’re smaller and you go around the same corners a minimum of three times in one go, but the sprints?

The road circuits/road sprints that I time attacked I know really well. The dirt, X country not so much but again the ones I time attacked I know. Street races definitely not. Not my thing but I have an idea. Time attacking matters. You will remember those if you did it for a week. Plenty of people have memorized them all though. I don’t play it enough to know them all. I would play more if they would fix some of this stuff. I know all the tracks in FM really well granted many are in multiple FM games.

Honestly, the tracks in FH5 are so forgettable that I don’t know many other than the Volcan Sprint, a good chunk of the circuits, and the dreaded Guanajuato races. All of the sprints, street races, dirt races, CC, and the big races are just very forgettable and the tracks are pretty disappointing compared to previous games.

I didn’t notice abnormal amount of other players plastering the walls.
Total pandemonium as per usual when I drove the courses.

We almost lost. I was in 1st in the first race after the initial hairpin. I faced no challenge after that. I saw the guy in 2nd banging off every wall behind me. If things go right I’m faster than anyway wall banger. It’s slower to do that but they get in the way. I had enough space between us to take my time. They were prestige 5 too lol. The 2nd race the Ai brake checked me slowing me down so I only made it to 2nd. 3 guys were behind the all Ai’s in last. They moved up a little fortunately and we won. Luck really and I was too far ahead to see what they were doing back there. I easily could have gone other way. I really hate the 3rd race Cathedral circuit. Glad we skipped it. At least give an easy one for the last race not the worst road circuit in the game.

I wouldn’t say it is my favorite but (was that in this thread ?) as I noted my bunch of wallbangers (self included too much in 2nd race after losing my groove) had to do it after an abysmal 2nd race. It came as a pleasant surprise when every human started playing like a team and driving skilled and clean… ish. Team human finished all top spots except for one runaway AI nobody could catch in first place.

I think I’m almost liking Cathedral after that  Full credit to geistwriter’s tune. Next week will be looking for CashlessPlains tunes. Just to be fair  Not that I’m happy about supersizing the 20point fomo chores but I guess, if it’s not all bad racing, ok.

There’s a couple of tracks in FH5 I personally really like and don’t find so forgettable. They are… um… well, I forgot. Never mind, I guess you’re right after all.

By the way, what are the new tracks they added? Please.
