Hi peeps
I’m after some help, yesterday i managed to break off the SATA connection on my SSD ! it’s only used as a windows drive, i have 2 other HDD’s for storage, tried fixing the broken SATA port on the SSD but it won’t work, so i ended up buying a new SSD and re-installing windows, pc now up and running again.
My problem is, i’ve managed to install my apps off the microsoft store, but when i comes to installing Forza horizon 4, it won’t let me install the game, the box comes up to choose which drive to install the game, when i click install, it does nothing!
Now i know the game is already installed on one of my drives, no idea which one or how to find it, so i’m stuck, the games doesn’t show on my apps list on my pc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Dave
It’s in the hidden Windowsapps folder. Sometimes called just Winapps. First check off show hidden folders, you may need to give yourself permission to the folder.
H4 is under Microssoft.Sunrisebasegame. DLC may be in separate folders with Horizon 4 in the folder name. Since you did a new install no registry entries should remain.

Thank you leetorts, i’ve found the windows app folder on my storage drive and managed to access it following the instructions you linked to (many thanks for that) In that folder is Microssoft.Sunrisebasegame., so i’ve found the game, but what do i do next?

Delete the folders. I mean it can’t hurt at this point. Than try to reinstall. Under storage on Win 10 make sure everything is set where you want it to go. Click change where new content is saved. No guarantee this will work but the game needs to be reinstalled from scratch at this point, It is the only way. Be easier if you could format one of the storage drives if there isn’t much on it and you can move some stuff. I think the installer is just seeing the folders already existing and not moving forward. You may end having to take that step if it still will not install.

Leetorts, big big thanks for your help, just to follow up on this, the game is now installed and up and running.
What i ended up doing is this, i took ownership of the folders as per the link and deleted all content, oddly i couldn’t delete the folder even though i had permission, so i ended up moving the rest of the contents from that drive to my other drive, the only thing left on my drive was the Windowsapps folder, i did try several times to delete this, i kept getting the message i don’t have permission, even though i could delete the contents! , so i ended up formatting the drive.
I then went into storage app and save new content to my formatted drive, went back into the Microsoft shop and the game would now download to that drive, many hours later… game now installed and up and running as it was, yippee lol
Cheers for all your help, very much appreciated, one happy Forza camper.

Glad I could help, there is a command prompt function that would have done it most likely. Some folders are stubborn to remove, like the Windows.old folder after an update. I use that command to delete it.
