I just looked at the wheels on the RX-7 and the wheels in Forza 5, and I’m not sure if they’re new. They look almost identical to the Volk RE30s in Forza 5, except that they have painted centercaps and they’re set in farther (like it used to do when you put wider tires on them.) I hope they are new, though; I’m tired of using the same wheels all the time.
I noticed in the trailer, there’s a scene with car pulling up with black rims that had white logos on them. Much like the TE37s on Forza 5 but had many more spokes.
Something that would be an improvement and should be easily achievable would be the ability to make standard rims larger or smaller. Many manufacturers offer larger rims as a factory option these days yet we cannot do it on Forza.
Honestly, this is what makes me angry about both companies. They have the balls to announce DLC before the game even comes out but don’t have the balls to answer questions about wheels or body kits which by the way have been the exact same since Forza 3 in 2009. Oh and by the way, if they’re announcing to release DLC two weeks after the game comes out, then obviously the game isn’t finished.
As far as the wheels, they spend money licensing rims we don’t want and ignore our requests for new ones. Who even uses DUB rims…? I can literally pick about 30 rims that I’ve NEVER put on my car. In my eyes, Forza has been the same game since Forza 3, and in reality there was even more in Forza 3 than there is in any of the current games. They keep taking small parts out of the game with each release.
Its pretty much a certainty that many of the rims in the games were licensed with multi-year or multi-use deals. That would mean that they’re available to be in the game without having to re-license, giving Turn10/Playground the freedom to include them at will. It allows them to have a wider selection, if need be. And while you won’t use them, maybe someone else will. The moment they take out DUB wheels these forums might have an influx of new members complaining about it. Better to just keep them in and have the wider selection without many disadvantages for doing so.
Also, when you’re trying to get, for instance, a 600 class car, after you upgrade the engine and handling and whatever, using crappy rims might be just what you need to take it back down those extra 3 points so you could include one more Exhaust upgrade. I personally don’t do that but hey… some people probably do…
I love racing with DUB/Lexani wheels, mainly because they’re so ugly; the more horrendous the car is, the more comfortable I am with it. Also, as Blu Koi said, there are people doing this. I’ve seen a good amount of people using this upgrade strategy for hotlapping.
I may have just been imagining things, but did anyone else notice what looked like a new HRE wheel on one of the cars in the intro vid after you deliver the Huracan? It looked like a spider spoke HRE that was redone with the carbon fiber editor in paintshop. It looked like the HRE P101.
