S class ghost this coming week. That’s better, thank you Turn 10 for not making it AWD
“Pinnacle”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp93zL4e2ggWhilst the first two videos certainly shows what my experience in leagues now looks like, I haven’t seen anything in pinnacle as bad as that third video in a long time. I admit to making my fair share of mistakes in the leagues but there seems to be a lot of overly aggressive drivers in these leagues now. It also amazes me how many people just think they can plow through accidents in front of them when sim damage is on.
I’m not sure when or why pinnacle league has deteriorated as much as it has. Is it because of the added rewards of a unicorn car and livery’s, afterall the can-am league was quite bad. Is it the change in parameters they made to let more people into pinnacle, or is it just the car class being driven faster cars has always lead to more accidents. The amount of people corner cutting has rocketed again aswell, I might as well not bothered racing Le Mans Buggatti earlier because of how many were cutting the chicane.
Anyway unless something changes soon I will probably be moving onto something else as the leagues was the only thing keeping me playing this game. With the imminent release of Dirt Rally on consoles as well as Assetto Corsa later on I’m not going to be short of options for console racing.
Yep, that’s how it’s been for a while now. The enjoyment is fast disappearing from the leagues, people are so desperate to score points when somethings on offer. As for simulation damage well, that’s just gone from bad to worse. I was all for it I have to admit, but it doesn’t stop the crashing, as the videos show its ridiculous. I’m getting close to giving up on the leagues all together.
At first I have to say, I´m bad at Forza, some would say really bad. But the thing is, I know it. Unlike a lot of other people in game. The point is, I was racing GT-league and such a crashfest I have never seen before. Okay, I´m not not very high in class, the second from bottom I think, but what you can see there let a demolisionderby look like a childsbirthday. Most of the guys/gals I wouldn´t give my nefews threewheeler. It would be to fast for them.
Trying to get this weeks Lambo and then going to D-leage. Could only be better.
Those are just a few from yesterday afternoon, there was a big wreck at every single race I participated in yesterday. I could have added waaaay more but chose not to.
I don’t think the problem is necessarily people being desperate for points, it’s just that most people in pinnacle drive like this no matter what car they use. I’m by no means the fastest guy around and I do make mistakes here and there, but skill gap in pinnacle is huge. Can’t imagine what the other divisions must be like!
The leagues are the only thing that keep me playing, once I give up on them then I am pretty much done with the game. I will get my race fix on my PS4 after that happens because the racing community on there is larger and noticeably better.
That’s the other thing I’ve noticed. The difference between the best racers on Forza, and the rest of the racers in Pinnacle is astounding. During the whole week, in the GT lobby, I only came across 6 racers that were at my skill level, with just 3 of them being noticeably quicker than me. Other than those 6, there were a handful of other racers who could stay within a second/lap of me, with the rest being 2+ seconds/lap from me. I think this is partially because of the influx of drivers that were promoted from Elite to Pinnacle, who probably weren’t quite at the Pinnacle level, but better than most Elite drivers. Because I raced in the GT lobby, I think another reason for this skill gap could be that these drivers became Pinnacle in R-class because they normally use leaderboard cars (like the Can-Am’s, Ultimas and Hennessy’s, 1970’s F1 cars), but when racing GT cars, and drivers who race nothing but GT cars, this skill gap becomes more pronounced.
What I mean by that is if you take a driver who can run a 1:55.2 at the Nurburgring GP circuit in a Can-Am car at R900 and a driver who can run a 1:55.3 at the same track, but in a GT car at R880, is that first driver (Can-Am) actually at the same skill level as the GT driver? Or is the Can-Am driver better than the GT driver? I’d say no. The Can-Am car is considerably faster than the GT car in every single way and if a driver in a GT car can keep pace, despite the obvious advantages of the Can-Am, then they are not at the same skill level and that’ll be proven when put in equal cars. I think this is the main reason why we are seeing such a huge skill gap in the Pinnacle GT leagues.
This could also partially explain why the quality of racing has been dropping in the Pinnacle GT leagues. You have drivers who might be at the Pinnacle level with leaderboard cars, but not with GT cars where they’d probably be Elite, at best, racing against the some of best GT drivers on Forza. These same racers, who aren’t as good as they think they are, probably frequently win races in the general hoppers and are not use to competing against other drivers who are as good and mostly better than they are. This leads to over aggressive-ness from said drivers, massive pile-ups, lack of spacial awareness when it comes to close quarters racing and general lack of racing experience in tight groupings. Obviously, sometimes there are accidents and crashes simply due to the nature of racing. Those are unavoidable and even happen with professional race car drivers.
I’m returning to leagues tomorrow, but I’m not touching the lambo stuff. I got my car, I can’t really bother to compete with those desperate unicorn hunters. A few months ago, the leagues were great. Although pinnacle fields were small, about 12 drivers, it was close and we all were friends. Racing with Rich, IVORBIGUN and others made me a better driver and Forza a better game.
I feel like that community aspect was lost with these competitions, leading me to believe unicorns should stay in rivals.
Whilst I get what your saying I don’t think people using leaderboard cars has anything to do with it. League division are based only off of someone’s performance in the leagues (unless they haven’t raced in leagues before) which means everyone is always using the same cars any way as the leagues normally have set car parameters. When car divisions that have leaderboard cars come up the majority of the room will be using those cars including the fastest rivers so it should not have any effect on someone league placement.
You could argue that some people are faster in the slower car classes and thus they go up the divisions when the A-E classes come up, but when the R class and above come up they should be in a lower division. I have a friend who is normally within a second of my times on the leaderboards in the lower divisions but in the recent lambo rivals events is about 3 seconds slower. Add to this that I’m normally between 1-2 seconds slower than the guy at the top of those events depending on track and you can see where the problems are coming from.
The skill gap in pinnacle though is always going to be larger than the other leagues out of necessity, if there was a division for the very elite it would probably be dead for the majority of the time. You only have to look at the recent lambo rivals events, which are probably the most competitive leaderboards on the game at the moment, to see how quickly the times fall. The latest one around laguna seca for example the top driver is almost a second quicker than the person in 20th.
Couldn’t agree more the Can - AM league had the same problem when a unicorn car was up for grabs and every Lambo league has been the same, I thought it might calm down a bit now it is just a livery as a reward but nope still the same.
