Network Issue connecting to game sever, stopped working 3 months after purchase.

I bought a digital copy of Forza 5 about 4 months ago. I went to join a multiplayer game and every time I try to connect it gets to the last step"connecting to game server" Then it comes up and says unable to join session. This has now been going on for 4 weeks. I have a Xbox one connected to a Linksys E4200 with a CAT6 cable that I bought from a store this would be the 3rd network cable I have replaced on this run just to be sure. I also have a Netgear CM400 Modem which I also have a store bought CAT6 network cable that I have also replaced to insure the problem doesn’t lie there.

My E4200: My Xbox one I have the IP manually set on 192.168.0.112 and have the DMZ enabled in the router for that address.

I have already been threw the Xbox support loop 3 times now. Where they ask for you account information and power cycle your Xbox. Make sure you have you Xbox plugged directly into the wall and not a surge protector. Every time they tell me I need to contact Turn 10 well lol one of the ladies I talked to said to call Activision. I was like um yea wrong game sweetheart lol. So after going threw that ordeal I went looking for Turn 10’s phone number and or contact information and now I am here.

This is the tricky part of my problem. As I am not experiencing any issues with any type of other Multiplayer games and or apps. My NAT on my Xbox says its open and all services are available. I have also tried uninstalling the game powering off the xbox unplugged the power cord and rebooted. Then I do that a second time, reinstalled the game and it still will not work on multiplayer. Yes this is also a digital copy. I do not actually have the game disc I purchased of the xbox live store. The only thing I can think of is that I am blocked from the server some how some way. I am mad because I bought this to play online with a couple of my friends and now it will not work at all. Who ever figures this one out I bet they will be getting a promotion. lol

Thanks, and please help me! I wanna go fast again!

Sounds like you have tried a lot to get this going.
I’ll start off by saying that it would be best to eliminate the router as being the issue. To do this, connect the xbox to the modem temporarily and then test the game to eliminate the router as the issue.

My general thoughts:
Do you have multiple consoles (360 or another X1) on XBL? That could be causing your issue because this router cannot support multiple consoles though NAT. Also if you have UPNP enabled and are running DMZ at the same time you could have an issue like this depending the router.

Also, I couldn’t find if that modem uses NAT or not but if it does you could have double NAT on your network

I had an E3200 and ended up switching routers because I could never get NAT to stay open longer than a week. This was running both stock firmware and DD-WRT. The ports would never close and usually within a few days it would switch from open to moderate. Reboot would always fix it though.

This compatibility list might provide some help. http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/networking-hardware/default.aspx

Thanks man for the advise! I just got around to trying out all your suggestions. Yes I have put a few hours into this problem already. Just sucks man my friends are playing and I paid for this game just to play online with them and I can’t. I was going to by Forza 6 cause I love the game but, If I run into this again and can’t play it… I would flip out lol Also this is the only console I own so I do not have anything else that would conflict with the NAT.

So I tried bypassing the router as you suggested and also tried putting a little 10/100 switch between the modem and the router and neither way changed anything. I checked my modem and there was no option for NAT translation in the modem at all pretty sure its not supported. Also I checked the UPNP and it was enabled by default. So I did some research and seen how it could cause issues with DNS I believe. So I went ahead and disabled it just to try it and see what happens. Once again unable to join. So I then took it off the DMZ and went back to port fowarding the 4 or 6 ports listed on xbox’s website. Still no dice, so being I was already balls deep I went ahead and re flashed the firmware on my router. Then just put my xbox back on DMZ and still didn’t work. I am just running out of ideas…

Let me know if you can think of anything else I could try thanks again!

I would suggest you consult Xbox Support, especially (1) Network settings on Xbox One and (2) Network ports used by Xbox Live on Xbox One. You’re using the wrong ports for one thing.

Go by the Xbox Live Support information. You’ll even find, I believe, your networking devices listed there.

I have already contacted Xbox support and they are telling me there is nothing wrong on my end. They said I need to contact Turn 10 who apparently doesn’t have a phone number I have looked everywhere.

How do you know what ports I used? Its on a DMZ so ports don’t matter at this point. Does anyone have any contact information for Turn 10?

I always leave my router set to automatic… I can manually put in the same automatic settings and it won’t work. I assume all other games are working fine. One thing I note looking at your achievements is that you have played the game for 10 months or so. Was this using a disc? Now you are using the digital version is there a conflict ? Has the game done a very long sync during this issue… Could you try setting up another account with Gold ( 2 day trial??) and seeing if it works with your current set up. Or take your xbox around to a mates house to try ?..good luck

I use to leave mine on auto but every couple weeks, it would change IP address. I also tried the auto last night just to see and it still will not connect to there game server. I can’t even create a private match. I tell you what this is insane I am not buying another game from a company who doesn’t have any way to contact them when you have a problem. Here I am 6 weeks with a game I can’t even play online that I payed 50 bucks for and spent another 20 on a car pack.

I don’t understand why there is no contact information for Turn 10! Am I losing my mind or is there really no number and or email address for them? I have done everything I can think of besides taking my console to another location to see if it will connect. I have zero problems with all other games and or apps.

You should take it to a friends house or another location as everyone on my friends list can get on no problem.

Also I know you are DMZ you should turning it off and forward your ports just to see if it works that way. How To Port Forward The Xbox One S - YouTube

And lastly even though I don’t think it’s on their end forzafb@microsoft.com

Definitely take it to a mates house
