I try to keep difficulty on Pro.
For example using the Brabham F1 car with no assists and manual trans, I just dont see how its possible to run faster laptimes than with TC on. Especially in wet, you have to press so lightly on the gas when exiting a corner or it just spins out. Hell it will spin its back end in any gear if you’re a little bit too heavy on the gas. Meanwhile the AI is flying past looking like their back ends are glued to the track. I know they dont have the same physics as the players car but come on, not to mention they seem to have an extra 100HP on the straights. Whats going on here?
Feather the throttle in:
exiting corners…In some cars you can start accelerating while in the corner. In other cars you have to wait until you exit the corner. Depends on car and tune it is using.
start of race
Feather Braking:
Entering corner
Have a better then stock tune. Rule of thumb is that stock tune will always beat out a generic tune that’s focused on acceleration or speed only for example.
You are going to need a good all around tune for your car. If there are none that are truly all around tune use stock settings to get your going.
Know how to shift gears and when to shift gears when entering/exiting corners as well as when starting a race. You have to practice.
IE: Some downshift when entering a corner as it gives the car better control. Then when exiting upshift.
Hope that helps.
This car is hard to master but see, back in the day they used grooved, crappy, skinny (not so skinny in the 60s) bias-ply tires, which means these cars cannot be driven as modern cars and enjoy a fair bit of sliding, though not too much obviously.
Radial tires have more grip but steeper drop-off. Bias-ply tires are the opposite.
You might need to be more careful with your trigger fingers to prevent loss of grip. When you try “Birth of Grand Prix” cars, you’ll see they drive the same, but worse!
And the AI DOES have more bhp on Pro difficulty.
Throw that out the window. The tyres in forza are generic.
Really? Because in Horizon the old cars all have very floaty tires, then you upgrade to Street and they magically transform and start behaving like modern cars. In Forza 7 the old GP cars do handle largely different from modern cars.
I think they have a less detailed model but it could be flexible enough to give us an approximation of how the real tires are like. I’m convinced they make a generic compound relative to each time window. As for the upgrades, member “Corn3r3r” has told me the various upgraded compunds are not uniform across each car and I think he’s right judging from my experience with the game.
I managed to start coming first on Pro by putting the diff slider all the way to speed and slightly increased decelleration. I also dropped the rear tyres 4 PSI and its a lot more manageable
I think the AI runs all assists as well. So it is hard to run a 60’s F1 car with no assists against AI running TC and STM in cars that never had them.

What an odd thing to say. There is no minature electronic person in the car - its just the car. You aren’t competing against anything other than CG cars that perform to pre-determined parameters. They don’t use assists, they just behave the way they behave in order to provide a challenge to the player.
The assists affect your car and the difficuly alters the parameters of the cars controlled in software. Between the two almost every player should be able to find a decent level of competition.
With cars like that i usually stay in one gear higher, keeping me at lower RPMs with less chance to spin the tires. So if i’m coming out of a corner at 50mph and still have room in the second gear, i’d be in 3rd or 4th… then when im on the straight i can downshift to get the most power to accelerate. This strategy gives you a bit more leeway on throttle control coming out of the corners.
Stay in 4th gear as much as possible.
There are a few spots where 3rd gear is unavoidable but you’ll just have to remind yourself to be gentle on the gas at first. 2nd gear is a death trap.
I really didn’t find these cars to be terribly hard once I learned the gearing. The cars had more than enough acceleration to not need a lower gear. The tricky part is making sure the car doesn’t over rotate in the front. Adding really stiff front sway bars helps to an extent.
To run no TCS in fast cars you’ll need 3 skills: 1. Ability to feather the gas, 2. Ability to recognize late apex opportunities to ensure you’re accelerating without turning much on corner exit (you’ll notice huge gains in the rain by searching around), and 3. Ability to recognize when using a higher gear in corner is better.
I’m stuck on this myself I’m using standard Xbox controller abs is off and I’m ok with that but higher powered cars that I like R3 [Mod Edit - D] but with no traction or stability is impossible for me no matter how gentle I use the gas does anyone have any tips for controller setup ? Or any other tips it’s doing my head in lol

Yea im stuck doing an open race in a BMW M3 and it spins all over the place. I can just about scrape 3rd on Pro by smashing cars out the way. I wish the game better explained the various tuning options and I also wish assists had a ‘realistic’ option, like PC2. Which means if the car had TCS from factory, it is available to use in game
