Hi all there is something that I don’t quite understand about the leaderboards or I should say the leading drivers, and the assists there using or the lack of them to be more exact.
Now I’m a wheel user,( I use a fanatec csl elite and pedals) and I run with only one assist which is manual gears and that’s it, but when I’m playing in multi player and we come to the end of the race ( I usually place middle of the pack) and it shows the leaderboard and how well everyone done/placed the only assists that almost all the other drivers seem to use is maybe traction control,(there’s only a half circle thing registered to them) but then does that mean that all the top drivers are using manual gears with the clutch? are they using wheels or joypad?
I find it so confusing 
Top times are almost exclusively controller users. Manual with clutch adds a performance advantage so yes they are using it. The only thing that I’ll say is that the higher the class of car the less this advantage is, so if you mostly play r class and above its not that big of a deal, but if you play in lower classes clutch gives a huge advantage. Sometimes traction control on is faster than off for certain car and track combos, so its always a good idea to take a look at the leaderboards to see the optimum setting.
When the assist circles are full that means they’re using full assists. So traction and stability control form 1 full circle, automatic transmission is full manual is half manual w/ clutch is blank, abs is on or off.

@Eight3all58 - inside the settings menu for your wheel, see if there is an ACLsetting? If that exists, try setting it to ON - if you then have the clutch mapped to the A button, you’ll be able to utilise Manual with Clutch when using paddle shifters; it’s something that existed in my old Porsche GT2 wheel but I don’t know if that feature ever made it’s way into the newer base/wheel models.
No longer a feature on XB1 unfortunately, Thrustmaster has it but fanatec has been forbidden to use it by microsoft
