So… I’m having trouble with some nasty transitional oversteer in this 458 race car, specifically when coming off the brakes at the apex (I’m a trailbraker). This problem crops up in slow and medium speed corners when I am letting go of the last 5 - 10% of braking, the rear end swings out before I can put the power on. I have tried fighting this with brake balance, but at the point where the problem disappears, the car loses all ability to steer on the brakes. My next step was to soften up rear springs and ARB’s, and tweaking the bump and rebound, but nothing I do seems to make a difference. Anybody have any experience with this car? I have the other four GT cars running great, but this one has been frustrating the hell out of me, any help would be much appreciated!
Have you played with the decel? Try raising it up. Otherwise you already listed the things I would try as far as springs and ARBs. Touch more camber in the rear maybe?
I hope you have good luck. I haven’t found a tune yet that I really like on that car.
So, I have partially sorted this car out, in the end, it had too much rear bump, too much rear rebound, too little ride height and I had the diff set way too high… This car still breaks away at the rear first, but that’s just the nature of the beast I suppose. Anyway, I have a pretty good tune for this thing now, and I published it. Available under BB KYLE BB
Everything you just said you went back and tweaked i was going to say to do those things. This car is a handful even with a good tune on it but it sounds like your getting it figured out. I want to say i have the rear of the car actually all the way up on my tune.
