My personal experiance with forza 7 on pc.

So just to start this off, I initially got forza horizon 3 on pc sometime last year and LOVED the game. The game ran pretty well on my pc (ill list my important pc specs at the bottom of this post), I did have my fair share of crashes and such which in that case turned down some settings. In the end the game ran perfect on 1080p and medium and low settings. Overall forza horizon 3 was a very fun game for me on pc and I was very excited for the release of forza motorsport 7. I wanted to try it out and the features and car list seemed really awesome. I waited to see the pc requirements and was really happy to see I was going to be able to run the game very well (at least I thought I would). Even though the game boasted better graphics and stuff I didn’t see myself having much worse frame rates then forza horizon 3.

Release date roles around and I find out the download is huge so get the game a day early to pre-download it, which was kind of a nightmare with that download reset issue. However I only got reset once and ended up being good for launch. Next day comes around and I start the game up, it initially seemed not all to bad, did notice fair bits of lag but figured my settings might have been set high from the start. So I get into the menus and oh wow are they laggy no matter what you do, got to the video settings and changed them around as needed. Most things were set in a similar way to the previous forza I had played on pc. The game did feel laggy and I experienced a crash in the main menus. Turned some more settings down and it didn’t help much. The absolute worst part was the parts menus, it was so bad that if I tried to navigate them too fast my game would crash. At this point despite me trying to be as optimistic as possible, it was becoming obvious playing this game was no easy task. I did some research and decided on turning around some nivida settings to maximize performance. Which ended up being not all to bad because some of the menus got way better, however others got progressively worse as you continued to go through them, leading to crashes.

Conclusion and the bigges mystery here is that during all this my pc isn’t not being maxed out like other games tend to, while the other games offer a way smoother experiance. I use msi afterburner so I can look at previous times and such, and my gpu MAX was about 70% useage and my cpu around the same. Which is interesting seeming as I can barely get 60fps out of the game on dirt low settings. This leads me to believe the game was never really optimized for pc and will require a way higher spec pc then the required specs tell. Which is really really annoying and just disappointing that this game is beginning to be a fail for me and just not worth the time. I hope they really fix these really silly optimization issues so I can enjoy the game as intended.
