I find it very annoying that people often even not know that their microphone is on. I really don’t want to hear players talking/screaming. But I hate it to sepperatly mute people. I want to have the option to mute online voices at once.
Guilty as charged
I’m always screaming at my tv
Switch to Party chat instead of game chat.
plug in your headset, don’t wear it, lower the volume and press the mute button. There is no easy way of doing it. I had to pause the game go to player list or something go to player load a submenu and mute, all of this while the race for the next event already started.
Is there any easy way to mute the other players during an online event, either before or after the race ? It really ruins it for me when people are just being idiots and it’s crazy distracting. I could open up their live profile and mute there I gues but I was hoping there would be a quicker way I game. Thanks if anyone knows a better way
Hi!

Plug in your mic but don’t put the headset on, then turn the headset voume all the way down. This will use up batteries a little faster, but you can always USB to the console instead. Works on both consoles, too.

You can just head into your own party chat and you’ll hear nobody online.
Found myself yesterday listening to some little kid whistling down the kinect mic.
Have had several encounters with people that were actually fighting out a marital dispute while the mic was still on. Tend to send them a msg telling them to check the manual so the whole world doesn’t get involved in their bedroom issues.
Certainly seems strange there isn’t a quick way to mute certain people in a session.
It can’t be hard, some other Crummytastic games managed it.
There needs to be a way to mute people. Either that, or have a menu option in the game settings to play any player chat to the speakers.
Plugging in the headset is a band-aid, and not a viable solution. I enjoy playing Forza Horizon 2, and I typically don’t mind player banter, but when somebody gets angry (and profane) or is just being a general jerk (making loud noises in their headset on purpose to annoy), there should be a quick way to shut them up. The all-or-nothing option isn’t a good solution. We shouldn’t have to shut everybody up just because of one troublemaker.
Pause menu —> player list —> select offending gamer —> mute
Hope this helps!
The issue lies not really with T10; other games suffer from the same incapability of muting certain players. I think Microsoft needs to address certain features as well in their upcoming firmwares but to get their attention, please look at their official forums as well for feedback/topics concerning this.
The only problem with using the pause menu to go and select the individual person to mute is that if you’re in an online road trip that means you’re going to lose the race because you’re busy in the pause menu while everyone else is driving. I really think they should let you mute people from the leaderboards that come up in between each race and lists every player so you could easily select people to mute from there.
If I want to mute 7 of the 12 people on the leaderboard, that still takes more time than the leaderboard is present. So, not really a viable option. I don’t really understand your suggestion though; an online roadtrip consists of
- 4x driving to an event for some XP
- 4x actually racing an event for much more XP
- 3x waiting for people to return to freeroam
Now, the first and third will give you enough time to pause → playerlist → mute people. Unless you are switching towns (like from Sisteron to Castelletto), there is no need to even complete the first option which gives you, euh, roughly 4x 2 minutes to mute people at your own leisure.
Playing online today, less than savory individual sucking down bongs through his mic. How do I mute people on horizon 2?
You can’t in-game, you have to go to their profile and mute…
I know, some people seem to forget to turn their mics off haha, oh the conversations I’ve heard.
Oh that sucks. Pretty over hearing crud like that.
having come across many peeps with their kinect or headset on and tv or music on in background drowning out the lobby, is there a way toi mute certain people in a lobby without muting everyone?
Yes there is. And yes, several threads and options have been mentioned already.
Most likely: Player List → Select Player → Mute
This is not different from a lot of other games; if you don’t want any chatter, plug in your headset, put it on lowest volume and put it next to you on the couch/chair.
