Muting players online

Is it possible to disable chat in on line play? I know I can turn my volume all the way down but I want to hear the car. I know I can disconnect my Kinect but I don’t want to do that.

What I do want is to not have to listen to the nonsensical jabbering when playing on line. Is there another way to do that?

Xbox Snap>Party>Start your own party.

This way when you go online with others and don’t want to mute them, if you go in a party you will not hear people online talk

how do I disable the online voices when racing?

Start a party.

This and this over. Been doing this since the beginning of Xbox 360.

What they said ^, much more effective than other advice from searching which was connected your headset then use that to mute -__-

Unfortunately sometimes it takes me several tries to keep the party open. I often start a party, unsnap it and still here voices. I go back to see the party closed itself. Thats the best solution though. Wish they just had an option in the settings to mute all.

Well i just hit pause, enter player list n mute the ones i want… Takes about 2s so nothing to cry about

I don’t like the party solution. I mute them if I have the time but usually just plug in the headset and hit mute as it seems the simplest solution. Sometimes I don’t mind the chat so I would rather have a choice other than the party solution. Plus I typically just jump into online without thinking about a party or blocking chat unless it is super annoying which it often is.

Make sure your party is set to “party chat” and not “game chat”.
