Mustang Events - Multiplayer

As we did for the mid engine, I thought it might be interesting to have a thread for the multiplayer Mustang events which are in play this month.

The main one currently (I’m not sure if this will rotate after this week though?) is the Ford Mustang Challenge Multiclass event. This enables you to choose from cars within 4 Groups:

Group 1 - First Gen Mustangs (Max 400PI)
Group 2 - Millennial Mustangs (Max 600PI)
Group 3 - Modern Mustangs (Max 800PI)
Group 4 - Retro Race Mustangs (Max 900PI)

Warning - the game allows you to enter cars nowhere near the max PI for that group, so pay attention to the figures above if you want to be competitive.

Anyway, post your tunes, times, queries or strategies here.

I like these threads, more about building and playing together than stressing about bugs and unwanted gameplay design elements

The Mid-Engine ones I joined last month were great.

I did the 10 multi-class races for the 70’ trans am Mustang so I could use it in this Mustang Challenge. But It is not eligible for the series. What a waste.

I like first gen mustang, but limiting it to 400 pi makes driving it on long tracks rly boring…

Are the Hard Slicks much grippier than stock tyres? The Hards easily last the whole race. Mediums just about lasted at Laguna (on the Dark Horse with 2nd weight reduction)

Will have another go at this event later and hopefully be more competitive.

Shame this event doesn’t also count towards the 10 multi class race quota.

Kinda sad the new drift Mustangs aren’t allowed. The blue & yellow one that start at 810 are actually not that bad at S800 for some tracks (2:08 at Road America).

The stock tyres on the Dark Horse are sports, so I wouldn’t have thought hard slicks have better grip (at least not sufficient to justify the extra PI) but I haven’t checked. If you can get mediums to last then they should be stronger but that would surprise me at most tracks over 18 mins.

First 18 min race with x4 wear so I thought I’d risk the mediums. Severe wear for last 45 seconds of the race.

Will try the stock tyres next time.

just keep stock… no risk and same pace as mediums

Yup. I’ve ditched the Dark horse and switched to the faster and easier to drive 350 R on stock tyres (sports).

Won a couple of races this evening. Also used it for a multi class race @Cat GP. Got 2nd behind a Lola.

Edit: stock tyres are streets on the GT-350R, I’m using sports which easily last every race I’ve been in.

Might be late to the party but the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-350R S800 is smashing this event and also competitive in the multi class races for me.

If I’m not wrong gt-350r Is on mate pace in a class.

This B-600 1993 Ford SVT Cobra R has been fun & successful for me (controller/gamepad user) so far in the Group 2 (blue) Millennial Mustangs class without pitting…

Here’s a D400 65’ Ford Mustang GT Coupe. Built for handling tracks.
If your using a controller you might try lowering the bump to 3 or 4 and the rear ARB up to were you like it.

What do you mean? That build is S800.

i know, im just saying that 350R is a fast car in a class

I tried it in Open A and it was off the pace at Watkins. More suited to low top speed/handling tracks. It’s great on Cat Nat. got 7th in the world a couple of weeks ago (rivals). In the mix with the Exocets.

I don’t see many in the lower classes on the grid. Shame. Mostly S class.
