Are you all enjoying this hopper as much as I am? Seriously one of my favorites. The last few have been bangers to be honest. The Golf hopper and now this one have been my two favorite thus far. Keep up this sort of content and bring more of it! Happy to see some progress being made.
The only thing they messed up, is allowing to tune suspension, aero, and brakes.
With some tweaks I was able to make car faster by 1 to 2s per lap depending on track.
I will leave it for others to have more fun
Camber -2/-1.5
Caster 7
Dump 2.4/2.3
Rebound 9.6/9.4
Aero minimum.
Brake balance 41%
Brake pressure 135%
Everything else default.
I find the Mustang is a bit of a handful on the handling. I like the challenge though
I got to try this one out. It’s interesting enough…
I wish events like this stuck around for longer than a week. Monday - Friday, I’m too busy for multiplayer.
agreed this has been a great hopper, just tried it for my first race online in a while and after some tuning got the car right and its so much fun
The problem I have with this hopper is that tune is allowed. It kills the fun of spec race in my opinion
I disagree, but understand where you’re coming from. There are only a few items allowed to be adjusted. It might seem intimidating, but I promise ya’ll can’t screw anything up.
Not saying this is you, but I feel like a lot of people get intimidated by the menus and just say screw it.
The menu is not the problem for me.
For me the spec hooper are for comparing drivers skill. You have the same car than the others and for me everyone having the same tune can make races funnier.
The problem with Forza is the game don’t let you know anyone have a tune. You can’t compare your driving skill to the other because tunes are different and change the car.
That’s why I loved the other spec races (Golf, M3, BRZ). You were only able to change the tire pressure (Which don’t change a lot the time on track)
Which way is the brake bias?
Ye I see now. I’ve heard people running brake bias and pressure that extreme but it’ never seems to work for me
Fair enough
This piqued l my interest as I’m trying to get better at tuning. I ran this car stock around Lime rock for 20 laps lThen adjusted the brake pressure and your aero settings. Suspension wasn’t adjustable at stock.
I found that at stock the stock and aero settings around this track were 4/10ths quicker.
The other thing which really surprised me was the tyre pressure settings. At stock they are very high 36/41 yet the car undoubtedly preferred the higher pressure as opposed to what I’d normally run 31/30.
I mean lime rock is handling track so higher downforce might help with grip, but on other tracks u can gain a lot with min rear aero on straights, difference is big enough that if someone with default rear aero follow u on straight in slipstream, they won’t be able to overtake u while u with min downforce will be able to easily overtake them using slipstream.
Tho this car have quite low grip, that using min aero w/o changing suspension settings, makes your car bit slower overall. Tho on Watkins u can gain lot of time on turn 2-3 due to reduced understeer from min downforce.
Other thing is in motorsport cars like higher camber (u can put more power down min corner with bit higher rear camber, and front camber can reduce understeer)
While in case of damping, using rally like setup (dump to rebound ratio = 25%) seems overall faster then typical race setup (50-75% dump to rebound ratio).
Yes agree, that’s why I was surprised the higher. Tyre pressure was quicker being a handling track. Also tried the break set up. Breaking at the start finish line at 130mph yielded a 2 metre gain at stock v your settings. ( stock aero)
Yes I have Been Enjoying it however i don’t understand why the car feels floaty if the car Wighs so much That is Not Realistic To me I use no Assists I shouldent have to tune it if the cars Handling physics wasn’t overly simplified that’s why assists exit to make the game easier-accessible
Well abound tyre pressure I usually leave it default and it just works. Sometimes I do some changes like ± 1 bar max, if telemetry shows uneven tyre temps between middle and outside/inside
You also have to remember the weight distribution of the vehicle. I think the mustang is like 65/35 front biased, so it needs higher front tire pressures than what we normally run. I went down, and realized it was like turning in soup. Back to about 35 for me.
I’m not keen on how this car handles even with a good tune. Have to brake so early for corners
I mean, yeah. Its not a race car. Its a road car. I’m not sure which brake package it has, but the weight alone explains the braking distances and the cornering behavior of the car.
The following is not directed towards you
It seems like a lot of people have really unrealistic expectations of the way cars should handle. I’m sure its a video game thing that people have subconsciously come to expect, but the braking distances for this particular vehicle I felt was pretty spot on for what it is.
It’s like the understeer thing people seem to talk about a lot. I genuinely don’t think it’s a problem. I think they just don’t realize they’re already doing nearly 100mph in a corner and inertia exists.
No I know it’s a heavy car and won’t grip like a race car on soft tyres. I was just saying I’m finding it hard to tame but that’s probably more realistic to this car. I’ve managed a third place with it for my highest finish. I see a lot of people going off track due to late braking. You just need to adjust the braking. After TC or GT and the Mazda lobby it’s a big difference you have to adjust to. Have to drive slower and more precise with your braking.
