Motorcycles, why?

I’m reading everywhere that FH6 will have motorcycles, every post on social media has people arguing about this. First, I don’t understand what this certainty that there will be motorcycles is based on, second, it doesn’t seem worth arguing over something like this. Personally, it doesn’t make a difference to me, but only on the condition that adding motorcycles doesn’t affect the FH driving model that I have always loved and, most importantly, in the case that motorcycles really are added, that they have a pleasant physics, in the style of Ride in arcade mode or similar. If even one of these things is missing, it’s better not to add them, I wouldn’t want it to become The Crew, where you have everything, but every vehicle has a ridiculous driving model. Although I repeat, I don’t understand where this certainty comes from..

The day I see motorcycles in Forza is the day I stop playing.

It’s all coming from a moment in the gameplay trailer when they are talking about garages and how you can decorate them yourself. There is a motorcycle in the background during that clip.

They do say you can use your own vehicles as decorations in the garage, but odds are it’s purely a decorative item. But people love to wildly speculate, and it’s not completely implausible, so here we are.

As far as devs are concerned, discussion is free publicity and marketing, with a bonus of gaining feedback on the idea.

Japan is their golden goose, too risky and it wasn’t tested in any previous DLCs.

At best, they’ll include it in a DLC to test the handling model and get feedback for the next installment.

End of the day, it’s all noise.

Why?

If they add Motorcycles I hope they get separate physics so that cars can stay realistic and it isnt all one physics model like The Crew Motorfest.

This. I’m a car guy first and foremost, but I wouldn’t be opposed if motorcycles eventually joined the fray, especially if the physics system for them was good and didn’t impact the cars.

I dont know much about Motorcycles but I have heard of the Kawasaki Ninja H2R and BMW S1000 RR. I think they are cool.

I know you’re talking about physics, but it would have to, in some way, impact the cars, in the very least a tangential way.

Motorcycles would need a development pipeline, just like cars. That means either taking resources from the car pipeline, or hiring more people to work exclusively on the motorcycle pipeline, which is effectively the same thing since every dollar spent on that is a dollar that can’t be spent on other aspects of the game.

Also speaking of impact, I wonder how literal impacts would work. The impact system is fine for a simcade of exclusively cars, but it wouldn’t translate well to bikes.

Bikes would be cool, sure, but I’m not even sure how I would implement them without having to reconstruct the entire physics system, but who knows, maybe the fable team has made the game engine much more flexible, and I’m far from knowledgable when it comes to coding.

Honestly though I’m just chatting about the possibility for fun. It’s a decoration. Yeah I could be wrong, but it would be silly to bet on it.

They could have separate motorcycle physics and still keep the same car physics we already have.

Bikes perform differently from cars. How would they even balance their PI?

If you don’t allow bikes to be in the same events as cars, you can just give them their own set of PI.

That would be for the best anyways. PGR4 integrated motorcycles excellently into their franchise… except for the fact that cars and bikes could raced together, and it was too easy for a car to knock a motorcycle over. The cars and bikes would have to separated as you said.

Thats exactly what I see in The Crew Motorfest when people use bikes in online races with collision on. They are so easy to knock with a car.

The motorcycles were really fun on PGR4, but I agree that it was a mistake to have them race with the cars.

Well there is one thing that people can do other than speculate to prove if the rumour true or false.

If someone can match the motorcycle shown in the trailer with a real life model, the odds of it being true shoot up dramatically. It makes zero sense to acquire official licensing for a purely decorative item.

It’s still not a guarantee, after all it could just be modeled after a real life model but with branding removed and put in the game in accordance with fair use laws, but PGG would probably want to avoid ruffling any feathers in the industry if possible, particularly with brands that also make cars. Even if they were following the letter of the law, manufacturers have the right to pull licensing for any reason.

Crashing motorcycles, even if you’re racing with other bikes or just cruising around in free roam, means “bodily injuries” to the driver and/or others. Devs cannot show a flying ragdoll. Not good for revenue.

Why? Crashes, especially with motorcycles, raises age rating. Higher age rating means this game cannot be played by 3 year old kids. Parents therefore cannot buy the game for their kids. Less people buying means less revenue. Microsoft loves revenue.

Your logic is useless cause we have open top car’s without a roof and when we crash our character doesn’t go flying like a ragdoll
