There will be one featured multiplayer session every 20 minutes;
You can only join the featured multiplayer session 5 minutes before it starts;
That will constitute really bad Multiplayer experience for worst-case scenarios:
After joining a session, I don’t drive in practice or qualification, starting last is totally OK for me (like Raceboy77 starting last play style).
I’m disconnected from the lobby due to unknown reasons when the race will start in 5- minutes → I must wait around 20+5=25 minutes for another competition to start.
I’m disconnected from the lobby due to unknown reasons when the race just started → I must wait around 20 minutes for another competition to start.
I tried to play Featured Multiplayer tonight for ~1.5 hours, I completed 0 session, because above metioned worst case scenarios happenned all the time.
Suggestion:
There will be sessions every 10- minutes, regardless the race length.
Players can jump in a session any time as long as the race does not begin, no 5 minutes locking
This is my 1 hour FM featured multiplayer gameplay experience today:
Joined an E-Class session, wait for ~10 mins, match begins, all cars are off-track when cornering at last lap-> I’m disconnected.
Joined another E-Class session, waited for 10+ mins for it to start, disconnected at the waiting line.
Joined another E-Class session, waited for ~25 mins for it to start. Match begins, I’m rammed by another player. After the match, I’m trying to report this player, only to find the game shows me a QR code to redirect me to a support article, which tells me that I need a video clip to report that rammer. Good Job Turn 10!
BTW, my XSX is using wired network, which is 1 Gbps dedicated fiber broadband to the Internet.
My experience today for Featured Multiplayer - A Class Series:
Finished one A700 race with 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Forza Edition, reached car level 50.
For the next race, trying to change to another car to level up. I only have less than 5 minutes to tune that car, the time is not even enough for comparing and selecting a public tune.
Selected and installed a tune around 22:24:45 at last, I can’t join the next session within 15 seconds, switching menus takes time!
I need to wait ~25 minutes till 22:50:00 to begin the next A700 race.
I’d be in favour of this. If somebody joins without enough time to do a qualifying lap, that’s on them.
You’d probably want to lock entries 2 minutes ahead of time though, just to account for people loading in to tracks, picking cars etc.
I suppose Turn 10 would need to reassess how many concurrently active Series they have with these changes though, as I’m sure more race times would spread out the player count more thinly than what we have now, and it’s not like the game has a lot of players to begin with.
