I know this has been covered before, but the thread I found was 2 months old and I’ve tried everything on there. Looking for advice on how to fix my Mic.
My issues just started on Monday and my mic was working for several days after the last update, so not sure what has changed. When I am in lobbies, either I don’t hear anyone or only hear some people and I think generally people can hear me but I can’t tell for sure (my mic lights up in the lobbies sometimes, but then after a few races it no longer does).
What I’ve tried:
Unplugging and replugging the mic
Leaving the lobby and going into a new one
Turning off/on the controller
Shutting down/restart Forza
Restarting the Xbox
Turning off kinect
Manually signing into my profile
Using a different controller
Controller wired to the xbox
Not sure what else I can do here - any advice would be appreciated.
From what I gather, there was an xbone update on 5/17, which somewhat coincides to when my headset stopped working.
Things that I need to try that were listed in this forum that is not in my OP:
1 - Check NAT settings (not sure how to do that, but I assume that isn’t my issue as nothing should have changed)
I have been having problems since day one with party chat. In order for the party chat to work for my friend and I all of the time, the person who invites the other person to the party has to have their mic plugged in before inviting someone to the party and the person joining the party has to have their mic plugged in after they get into the party. Otherwise, it doesn’t work and you have to do a hard reset on the console.
Yes, there are several areas which are Xbox LIVE, and, if you pardon the expression, each game only uses a plug-in to the process. Voice communication is an on-going issue which is in the process of being corrected, but it needs to come from the Xbox folks.
Like voice messages people love to send on Xbox 360. You cannot hear them on Xbox One or even the https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Messages?xr=mebarnav where we can read the text messages from either platform.
As it turns out it was my NAT settings - not sure what changed on Monday as I didn’t do anything, but when I switched it to “open” the game chat now works
If you are having the same issues, you can check your NAT under “settings → network”. This will display your NAT as either strict, moderate or open. If it is not open, you need to change it to get the game chat to work.
To do this, you need to log into your router and adjust port forwarding settings. This will likely be cable provider and router specific so I will advise to call your cable provider to walk you through it (or better yet the router support people as I was eventually redirected to them). If anyone has Fios & actiontech router and wants to know this process I can post here - just let me know.
One last note - I could not get it to work with the xbox hardwired to the router but was able to do it on a wireless connection.
