Any times to go with these? What type of track or specific track are they best suited? Leaderboard or lobby? Sorry for the 21 questions… will be building these and let you know what I think.

If you can leaderboard either of these guys you’re a bit of a hero I’d say. They are definitely in the Lobby car class. Both tunes were done for GSW comps on FM5. I go into a little more detail in the Catalog. If you run them I’d be happy to hear where you think they’d do best. The Honda was originally set-up for Road Atlanta Short and the BMW was running multiple tracks. From memory it did well at Silverstone.

Well I will give them a go and let you know what i come up with.

Thanks for sharing WearyMick! Just built these both up and will race them later on, when I get another little break.

BTW, just curious why you went with a Race Trans on the beamer, yet, stayed stock with Civic?

Again, thanks!

I remember the Civic well. It was faster with the stock box and the PI spent elsewhere. They really kick along with tight ratios on a racebox but in this instance the laptimes didn’t stack up. With the BMW my recollection is foggier, but I expect it was to do with the power band. If you check out the curve in the tuning menu it should be evident. I might climb into it when I’m on later tonight and see if I can recall my reasoning.

Also, this is one of the values of open sourcing tunes. You have a base build you can play around with and adapt to different circuits and driving styles. Drop the racebox into the Civic and see how it goes, or put the Sport box into the M3 for a comparison!

Thanks WearyMick…I am going to certainly try some things out, yet, as I keep learning about all this was seeking your thinking as well as to these options. I certainly appreciate the open source build/tunes and your insights.

I checked the gearbox options for the BMW. Stock box and Sport both have a stretched fourth gear and fifth tacked on as an overdrive. From memory I tried tuning the Sport box as a four gear set-up but couldn’t make it work. I wanted acceleration, which is probably the strong suit of the car, and there was only 3 PI between Sport and Race. You should try it out yourself and see how you fare. The Stock box would probably work on speed tracks and buys you quite a chunk of PI you could put into the engine bay.

Thanks Mick. I am certainly going to try these out for my learnings. Yesterday, for example, I bought 2 new cars and all their parts just to play around with different builds, impact of PI, performance and so on. I need to both learn to drive and dust those little Drivatar demons while I learn to build & tune.

Very nice Mick

Will give these a run and let you know the times I get and leave feedback.

I’m sure they will be awesome

Thanks GR33K. Hope you like them. Feedback is always welcome.

Mick, whats the caster and toe on the BMW the info is not there? U can also put the first drivetrain on save 2.3 lbs.

Stock caster and toe. I’ve only been listing changed values in an effort to keep it simple. Nice get on the driveline. Surprised I missed that but I was doing a build-off of half a dozen cars at the time so I guess it slipped through the cracks. I’ll spank myself later. Have edited the build above.

I was building the BMW 2002 Turbo and running in to a problem. You forgot to include in your build:

  • Engine swap (1st choice of engine)
  • Aspiration Conversion - Centrifugal Supercharger

I was also surprised at the handling of this car, it understeers a lot for my liking. However, I was able to get some decent laps in on Road America after a few warm ups. It’s nice and quick

About to build the Citroen. Cheers for the tunes.

edit: Citroen is spot on, really like this ride!
