Menu - Vinyl groups take an age to load and they're in a random order (1745045)

Yeah this has been happening since January and it has completely crushed my motivation to create liveries. I would have so much more time on the game if I could access my vinyls like normal.

Please Turn 10 fix this before adding any other features. I do enjoy the different lighting options, the ability to add a matte vinyl to a gloss paint job and the vinyls are in order buy date created, but the time it takes to load the saved vinyls greatly overshadows the changes that have been made.

After update 8 , when you finally get your vinyls loaded, you choose one that you want to change and un-group it, the various elements will now flip to different angles, or flip backwards & upside down. So the trend of fixing or adding something and breaking something else continues.

Nope, as long as they’re yours you they don’t make designs locked. You can also edit them once you load them

Look at Horizon 5. Everything happens so fast. Saving and applying. But they’re taking so much time in Motorsport.

This is unchanged in Update 9, the test returns identical results to before.

See you in 4 weeks.

I can’t import vinyls from FH5, though earlier games are fine. Shame because FH5 has the best editor. I get the ‘too many saves’ warning, which has it’s own thread and I’ve voted there, but the only solution I’ve found is to stickerbomb a car in FH5 then import it.

There’s just too many workarounds in FM8 required for a AAA game in 2024.

Well, to me after the update 9, this issue continue the same, around 2 minutos to load the vinils groups, thats something shorter, but not as we want, i hope they fix this as soon as possible… i can’t wait more for a decent editor…

Also, when i ungroup a layer group I have made, it gets all jumbled up. All the elements that make up the layer group get rotated, mirrored and moved. This makes editing an already existing layer group impossible. Since you essentially have to start from scratch and try and un-jumble (?) all the individual elements.
Been like this since an update a few months back.
It doesn’t do this every time, I’d say half the time.
But this, along with the above comments make painting / creating layer groups and incredibly frustrating exercise.

Another update goes by without fixing this, good job Turn 10.

The weird thing about this ungrouping issue is how differently it affects vinyl groups, with no particular pattern to it. I’ve learned to never ungroup anything on the roof of a car (you’ll get at least a 90’ spin pretty much every time), but some are just completely hopeless anywhere now (you can ungroup, fix everything, regroup, ungroup, and watch everything break again). I’m also getting all kinds of false spin values displayed for items that were imported at 0’ and to which I’ve done nothing yet. No doubt that these issues are related.

.

The absurd thing about the vinyl library loading is that you can wait the 4 minutes to get into your FM vinyl library (with 75% of thumbnails missing), switch into your even bigger FH5 library (which loads within 10s with every thumbnail), make a single selection there, and then wait 4 minutes to return to the FM vinyl library with the one single change. What on earth are you doing from a memory management standpoint for there to be zero benefits to a local cache? Why is this cache being rebuilt from scratch every time instead of updated?

When I accidentally choose Vinyl Library from the menu or Create Vinyl Group in the livery editor, it’s usually faster for me to quit the game and restart than to await an opportunity to cancel out if I don’t have a lot of work at stake. It’s simply ridiculous.

This always happening everytime I try to look up some on my vinyls and whenever I try to create a new one I always get hit by this loading screen.

It’s not “stuck”, it’s just extremely slow. Wait up to five minutes, and they’ll load. You’ll only be able to see 30% or so of them visibly, but you CAN load them for editing or add them to your design.

I got that long load screen on Friday. After a few shut down and reboots and then a full reset, I waited for it to finish loading, which I didn’t time but was far too long. Once my vinyls loaded I couldn’t select them to add to a car, so it’s useless.

Previously had loaded fine earlier in the week. The only problem - which persists - was that ungrouping would flip the individual items to zero/360 degrees orientation.

Yeah, I just decided to wait and it is as you described. They need to optimize that because I felt wasting years of life waiting just to put some of my vinyls.

They must have changed something last week because I hadn’t had the infinite loading for months, and a recent-ish update had put the vinyls in chronological order (most recent first).

However it now takes ages to load but I can’t select a vinyl to place on a car, except by using the SEARCH function and selecting someone else’s.

Still can’t import from FH5 except by creating a stickerbomb livery & importing that, then ungrouping & saving. Attempting to import individual vinyls gets one of two responses: either (a) No files; or (b) You have too many files of this type.

Frankly, this is ridiculous. No wonder long time top Forza painters are avoiding this game - along with tuners, racers etc.

absolutely true. the tunes, liveries and vinyls are not being shared as much. didnt help that people were able to basically steal your stuff at the beginning and make it their own.

its almost like nothing worked initially. makes you think how T10 leadership squandered all that time… and still got paid. smh

Status after update 10.0 (Xbox Series X):

With 400+ saved vinyl groups, it took me 4m 54s prior to the update to load the list, and now it takes 4m 44s. Getting better!

Only about 25-30% of the vinyl groups have thumbnails. No change there.
