Reference, from Newgarden’s October Bounty Hunter event:
I hope it isn’t, I’ve never been as competitive on ovals as I have been on circuits, mainly down to using controller rather than wheel (I’ve never been good at getting consistent smooth turn-in with a controller, mid-corner onwards is fine though)
Ah yes this I could manage but if it is an oval it will be an evil oval with 23 other indy cars on the track at once best of luck getting a clean lap with the Drafting assist we would get. Now where did I leave my meds.
It’s been a while, but wasn’t the lap-dirtying drafting thing turned off for johniwanna’s track-day BH on Mugello anyway? Or maybe it was just because the Fiesta was too slow for it to trigger…
Yes it wasn’t active for JohnIWanna’s Bounty Challenge. I don’t think it’s active for any of the Track Day Events currently present in Rivals either. Traffic really only presenting a problem to break your lines and rhythm. Contact with the AI traffic is the only thing that will dirty your lap, and track limits.
This is gonna be awesome if it’s four bounties, that is, if Newgarden brings in his teammates from Penske. Castroneves will only drive the Indy 500 and Indy GP from now on, but he’ll do it for Penske, and this makes it four with him, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud. Can’t wait!
After winning the Torana from Josef’s CBH, I painted it up like his Hitachi IndyCar, printed it out and had Josef, Will and Simon sign it at the Long Beach GP. I had to explain to Simon and Will what they were signing, but Simon did turn to Josef and ask, “How come I didn’t know about this?” Will thought it was cool that the reward car was a Torana.
So if Josef’s friends are the rest of Team Penske, this might be partly my fault. Sorry.
If Josef’s friends aren’t from Team Penske but are all active IndyCar drivers, who would you want to face in a CBH? Hinch, Bourdais and Rahal would be my picks.
I honestly can’t express how absolutely stoked I am about this news. I preordered FM7, but I took a little over 3 month hiatus from Forza leading up to and slightly after FM7 launched. I wasn’t expecting any Bounty Hunter Events to start so soon. Once I launched the game for the first time in late October I was devastated to realize that I missed the Inaugural Bounty Hunter Challenge.
I have been kicking myself ever since and always hoped that maybe there would at least be another one with Josef Newgarden taking part.
I doubt I got a serious shot at it, but I have improved quite a bit since the Dan Greenawalt Bounty, shedding the automatic assist and switching to manual. During the Ladder Challenge Bounty I became very comfortable with manual. Thus far I have beaten all the Bounty Hunters, barring the Josef Newgarden one that I missed. I will still kick myself for missing that one, but at the very least I get a second chance so to speak. I honestly won’t be disheartened if I fall short. It’s not the prize cars or even beating the Bounty that gives me satisfaction. What I like the most is the learning, improving and seeing results from these Bounty Hunter Challenges.
Bring it on Mr. Newgarden, I am counting the days to this event opening.
