Massive Wheelspin and uncontrolled drifting/swaying while accelerating on high end cars

For the cars that I upgrade to s1 or s2 class, I find that when I accelerate the car with the throttle, there’s a lot of swaying and unintentional drifting, making the process of getting a good start very difficult. I already know the technical reason behind this being due to the high amount of power on the wheels causing them to spin too fast and lose grip, but I’d like to know the specific upgrades or the in game reasons that make this happen (Real life reasons as well, but I reckon that they are basically the same as the in-game reasons). I also already know that feathering or gently pushing down the throttle instead of gunning it all the way is one of the main ways to overcome this. However, in races it seems that gently pushing the throttle makes it so that my car just does not accelerate well out of corners, and I get passed by opponents often. Also, this happens mainly on 1st, 2nd and a little bit of 3rd gear.

Is there any way to use the throttle so that I have control on the car but also accelerate well enough against other fast cars and drivatars?

Is the unstable start because of too much power due to maximizing all of the engine upgrades? Lack of weight after the weight reduction upgrade? Tires that are too thin or of the wrong type? How do you guys recommend I build my cars?

And is this the case with every high end car? How do I make a high end car with a high amount of power that still has very good traction on the road and does not spin out too much when I’m accelerating it from first gear? Or is this just a problem of a lack of practice?

Either way, I still have a lot to learn from the upgrading system because I simply do not know how to make it so that the car’s body and traction on the road due to its other components match the power increase that it gets when I upgrade all of its engine components.

I would really appreciate any help on this long post of mine, and thank you all in advance.

Turn on assists? If you’re struggling with high power rwd turn on the assists to begin with

I would assume you are using a powerbuild, which is basically RWD and as much power as possible. These cars are naturally hard to drive, and take a lot of getting used to. Throttle control is your friend off the line. Once the grip kicks in, you can use all the power.

If you aren’t going for a powerbuild, focus more on handling and grip than power. The Forza aero is hideous but that can sometimes help too.

RWD physics are borked in this game. Tire physics aren’t good either. Swapping to AWD will solve the problem or at least reduce it drastically.

The grip physics with RWD are super janky it seems. There’s currently an ongoing thread about RWD dirt racing and this same issue. I don’t remember this being an issue at all in FH4.

People say FH5 has the best physics but I’m not so sure. Other than drifting which is 1000x better than FH4, it seems to be a downgrade. Especially with RWD.

With “best physics” you mean in a comparison between FH4 and FH5? I think both have massive flaws but in different areas. In FH4 certain cars will simply lose grip in the rear in fast corners without any plausible reason. Hot Hatches with higher PI levels (800/900) are a prime example here. That fortunately got fixed and a Clio R.S. (2010) is actually drivable in FH5 now. On the other hand RWD and tires seem to be better in FH4 when it comes to handling and the differences between the various types.

In general FH4 and FH5 are far and I really man far, far away from a replication of proper RWD handling. I always use this video from PCars as example.

That’s a stock P1 with just some suspension tuning. It doesn’t has funky aero upgrades and isn’t on slicks but drives so much better compared to the same car in FH5 it’s actually mind boggling. I wish Horizon would be on that level in simulation mode.

Personally I’m trying to improve without them but thanks for the help

Thanks man, how would you recommend i make a car build more tuned towards handling and smooth acceleration? Do I just not increase the power by not buying the engine upgrades?

Thanks but I’d rather use RWD because I’d like to get accustomed to it to be honest

You can still buy engine upgrades, I would just recommend maxing out handling, grip, and aero first and using whatever PI you have left to add engine upgrades. Just focus more on the handling side.

I would recommend AWD but you said in another comment you want to learn RWD.

Alright, thanks
