I’m a newbie at the game, sorry if this was posted before.
I own the GTA Spano and Koenigsegg Regera, and everytime I accelerate both these cars refuse to go in a straight line, they start drifting either to the left or the right.
They become stable in 3rd gear, at higher speeds.
This isn’t such a big deal when freeroaming the streets, but it’s a nightmare during races. At the start of the race, when passing a corner, accelerating makes the cars drift out of control.
So is this normal behavior? When upgrading the car parts, I chose predefined setups from the community.
I love these cars, but they’re useless in races because of their handling during acceleration.
Please help me out. If this is just the default car handling, can you modify stuff in the tunning area to make them stable?
Better get a cheap controller to play with, racing games are not meant to be played with keyboard, since you got no throttle control. It is either 0% or 100%, just enabling traction control won’t fix this, it might help but not fix it. If that is not an option you could try and fiddle with the gears, make them less aggressive so you spin out less but it is less than ideal.
Ha mate, thanks, traction control really made a big improvement, but it also diminished credit earnings by 10 percent. x(
With a mechanical keyboard, you can press a key halfway threw to apply less throttle but who does that during a race? Drivatar level is set to highly skilled, if I don’t launch with 100% acceleration, I can’t catch up to them.
Anyways, traction control pretty much fixed the issue, so it’s all good now.
I’m really addicted to this game, and that stems from my love for cars. I used to play GTA5 until discovering this game, but cars in GTA are like paper, lol, the handling is so much different.
Not to mention the fact that GTA doesn’t have licences for real life cars, only weird looking hybrids. xD
99% of mechanical keyboards don’t work that way (I know, I have one) - there is no %- or pressure-sensitive input, it is still an on/off switch like all keyboards, you just have a physical switch being activated in most cases before the switch is actually pushed all the way down (which is why they are often seen as being “faster” than the cheaper common membrane-switch keyboards).
As has been mentioned above, if you want any hope of being able to handle the high-power RWD cars like the Koeniggsegg you need a device with proper analogue input like a controller (with analogue triggers) or a steering wheel.
And like I’ve also mentioned, the traction control option in the difficulty settings menu pretty much resolved the drifting at acceleration issue.
I play this game for fun, not competitively. A controller or steering wheel is a must for the F:Motorsport series or games like Project Cars, Asseto Corsa etc.
Mouse and keyboard… There are some brave people who play even simulators with keyboard, they usually have exceptional ability to feather the throttle to avoid wheelspin.
Adjusting the car setup to your input medium also helps, Use TC if necessary. It could require lower difficulty but the important thing is to have fun, no use in getting angry for nothing.
Personally I use an Xbox one controller that I have paired to a USB extension on my PC. I’ve used a controller of some kind in racing games ever since the original GT on the original Playstation. Far too long now for me to use anything else. And yes I have tried…
That reminds me of a trick I used to use in GT that might help you with the keyboard. The X button was gas, so I would tap the button in a particular rhythm to “feather” it and keep the RPM where I wanted. Tap the gas faster or slower and your revs will increase and decrease accordingly.
