Map & environmental features in FH3

Im just curious how big maps going to be

I dont want to see any of the Demo gameplay because I want to experience it myself and not have some other dude who can’t drive show it off.

But does anyone know if they shown the whole map?

if you watch AR12’s gameplay video, he shows the whole map, which is what we’ve already seen. Surfer’s paradise goes a bit farther north, but not enough for it to be considered different from what we’ve already seen.

/\

I agree with you there, but I am still pleased with its size :stuck_out_tongue: ( I wanna have a look at it myself while I play the demo, but I have to wait for it to download while I’m at work today :frowning:

Oh yeah I think the map looks fantastic! It’s huge and suuuper diverse, which was the one and only issue I had with FH2. Can’t wait!

I watched a comparison of the maps and well it doesn’t look that big tbh. Didn’t they say twice as big?

this is the video Forza Horzion 3 VS FH2 Map Comparison - YouTube

Please tell me you are not going by that video… please tell me that! I had o O almost the whole time i watched that video. Then i read the comments… sigh

So you are saying that isn’t the full map?

The full map is there. but judging it like that isn’t going to work. In the demo there was hardly anything stopping you, if you drove around enough you even found roads that aren’t roads if you get my meaning. In 2 there was still quite a lot of things stopping you. The amount of drivable area is much larger than in 2 just from the demo. We drove a little chunk and thats comparing the entire map that no ones driven?

It’s already been said that the dimensions are roughly similar to those of FH2 - but the drivable area is about twice the size. Not so many boundaries like in FH2.

Just looking at the demo map it looks like we’ve already seen the full map. That section to the south west could be where an expansion could be set.

That’s disappointing.

A little disappointed as well from what I can see.

I want open roads and lots of them. Not so much off road, which is the bulk of FH2 and apparently FH3.

Reserving final judgement until full game releases, but it certainly looks a bit sparse in terms of paved roads.

I wasn’t too sure about the paved roads/off road ratio either, but I played the demo and I’m pleased. Just like you I’m more into paved roads, but it didn’t feel like I ran out of them too soon and that’s just driving 1/3 of the map. The outback and Surfer’s Paradise are still to come.

Not having a go at you here but using a paved roads/off road ratio is a bad way of looking at it IMO.
If they added more roads (expanding the map dimensions), then there would invariably be more off road area inbetween those roads. Ratio stays roughly the same. If they add more roads to the existing map (map dimension stay the same) then yes, the ratio changes in favour of paved roads. But when you do go off road you’d be coming across a paved road way too often, making off road kinda pointless.
I get that some people like to stick to the paved roads but there’s still a ton of them in this game. Just because the off road areas have been opened up doesn’t mean the paved roads are losing out. Personally I like a good mix of the two and it seems like that’s what I’m getting in FH3. I never got to experience FH2 on X1 so my last Horizon experience was FH1 (not counting FH2 on X360). My one big criticism of FH1 was all the barriers but having almost no barriers in FH3 won’t take away from my enjoyment of paved roads.

I enjoyed riding around with all of my hud off, Especially during night time!

Is it clear if there will be thunderstorms in the game?

I think when you are busting around in multiplayer adventure it will be perfect size. The map is going to be so diverse and every road has its own feel. It’s important that you can actually learn the map, and I feel if they made it huge a lot of it would look the same and be lacking detail and hard to learn. The rainforest area is absolutely stunning. You can actually blast through it cross country aswell as many small trees are destructible. I think that was a good choice.

Also the step between environments is gradual not like you leave the rainforest and end up in the desert. I think it will have a nice flow between geographical features.

Overall I am pleasantly suprised by the environment I was really looking forward to h2 and I wasn’t disappointed. I wasn’t looking forward to Australia so much but it’s really suprised me. The graphics, the lighting, the environment. There are many improvements.

I just wish that ocean road went on forever…

I did some work and stitched a lot of screenshots. So - I think there a a lot of good spots to drive!

I’m going to be honest, seeing the entire bottom left portion of the map is deadzone is disappointing, and kind of confusing. The map suddenly seems a lot smaller when put in perspective of non-drivable area.

I suspect they’ve got some secret plans for that empty section in the south west. Ha ha.
