Ive been playing both fh5 an fh1 an I have to be honest when i say the origanal was more enjoyable the gameplay was better as well. I’ll explain right now in horizon 5 we have to follow both the walls an checkpoints which has had cause many issues where you physically cant race as close because you wont fit in the check point or you hit a wall which then you get slowed down. In 1 you had just walls to keep you on track so you could navigate the courses better an allow tighter racing. 2nd rwd cars in fh5 act like the have bike tires with over 500hp an cant compete with awd. In fh1 they handled better but if you did give it too much gas it would spin out which is ok but it wasnt as bad as the 3rd 4th an 5th make it out to be. You use to be able to build an drive anything an compete now it feels like motorsport but not as fun. 3rd cars in previous games had more horse power with stock motors. An now those same motors have lost over 60hp in the current gen example is the 69 charger an charger daytona same motor but the daytona tops at a little over 760 hp an the charger rt can make 900 hp goes for the dart as well they have the same exact motor yet different horsepower. Makes no sense.
Just notice they did the horsepower stuff with the 2013 viper vs the 2013 AE same motors but one makes 200 hp more
Not being sarcastic. but how many RWD cars with more than 500 HP have you driven in real life?
7 an currently own a built 62 galaxie 500 will roast 1st gear but solid after that. An thats if im flooring it the cars in the game act like they have more power than they do an will spin even if your easy on the gas
In FH5 RWD cars are usually really good. Most of the cars that dominate street and road race leaderboards are RWD e.g. Holden Torana in B-Class, '98 Supra and Dodge Dart in A-Class, XJR-15 and Elise GT1 in S1, Mosler MT900S in S2 just to name a few. This might not apply to drag racing, in case that is the type of racing you mostly do.
Some of the cars you listed are mid engine cars there weight distribution is different with more weight being on the back tires so they will grip better dart has always been a leader car since fh2. You could have race slicks not drag an they will still spin in like 5th or 6 th its like its not consistant in the same aspect the awd should still lose traction but they can just whip around when they should slide off track or plow
Again the cars I mentioned are only a few of several dozen cars that are good with RWD (be it FR,MR, RR), also the way AWD loses traction is different and may be easier to correct and more forgiving than FWD or RWD. Nontheless there are still enough RWD cars that will happily plow through corners no problems (the new AE Viper for instance as an example) and easily compete with AWD cars.
But they are not really competitive against awd if they held a competition you wouldnt see anyone in rwd an i never see anyone in fwd to begin with all it takes is one hit an your out for the race. Also 90% of the cars have fake motor options that cant be done without heavy fabrication work. If it wasnt a oem motor option from the factory it shouldnt be in there same with all the drivetrain swaps when all that got added in it threw off all the pi. Custom tuning wasnt a bad thing but the only way to make certain cars work is you pretty much have to break the game into thinking your car is bad or not drivable just to make it work. An no car or (cars) should be so dominant that you join an online lobby an see half of them using the same car like where did individuality go now its like motorsport with a nicer backround
Also the ae viper an the normal viper. Have the same motors but yet have 2 different hp lvls for the exact same motor
RWD even works on dirt in some cases. It’s butter in this game. If it was any easier to drive than AWD you’d kill AWD and make it useless.
As it is you can drive under or around them most of the time as they lose a lot of agility and outright speed in favor of launch and stability.
Awd should be dominate in dirt an cross country rwd sucks on it if you think they work you must not have to go against fast people or you only race bots most of my dirt times are in top 300 global ive never lost to a rwd in dirt an i dont know anyone who is able to compete with a rwd in dirt. On the road awd has been the meta since horizon 3 you can have the same lateral gs between two cars an the awd will still beat it in handling you will literally see smoke stacks from how much traction there losing but they still keep there place.
Also rwd is naturally easier than awd because awd should have a natural understeer because of the front drivetrain but the rwd act like they have an elephant on the front an plow in the same way an awd should.
AWD will mostly win on dirt in the majority of cases obviously, but FWD and RWD works on some cars in certain classes too in this game, which I like.
It seems like the lower classes are more competitive an fun like d c b but they dont even have c or d in online i miss how that was on horizon 2 where you had amature series where it was d c an b an a rotation then pro series with a s1 an s1
Depends on track/class/car/tune/driver. Sometimes RWD is dominate, other times AWD.
When most of the road racing tracks are short tracks an 2 out of 3 are small you can guess whats gonna be used so again there mainly used an yes tune helps but there are so many cars that can not be build or tuned to compete
Until in the races your RWD cars stuck behind traffic.
Then even you walk to front people dive into your back and then your RWD start sliding.
On S2 there are few track may have a long straight line then the MT900 are going to win by top speed.
If he is lucky not got crash/push by other AWD
In forza horizon 4-5 RWD (s1~s2) is like it can only win SOMETIME when there is no one around it.
(Time attack in leaderboard alone. Or in public races there are 10 casual player so the rwd can walk away alone)
It would be nice if they got rid of the wall slow down an checkpoint just made the walls breakable as well an your right you get hit by an awd you cant even hit them back. Like how it was in 1
Right now the mp gameplay is still base on lots of GHOSTING.
So often the RWD guy dont actually racing physically to fight/overtake others. It doesnt feel like racing sport in the real life.
are we going to play like this forever?
And let people turn on/off/level setting TCS on real time. Please.
If your games weather and surface are changing all the time.
(I am the one driving AWD all the time. But I think it is unfair to RWD player and I want more choice too)
This… I wish we could turn TC on/off on the fly by mapping it to a button. Even better, allow us to add it as part of the tune/car config such that it’s automatically on/off when we jump into the car. This tiny little feature would do wonders.
