I’m not implying menus should be complicated or not simple in general, but FM8 style looks like something coming from the 90’s.
A uniform, dull grey background with artificial lighting is not a good way to try different car paints since they look dramatically different in actual race gameplay.
Track selection in free play is downright ugly. I don’t know about others but I don’t live near Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit to know before hand what it looks like. Where are the photos of the tracks like all previous FM entries? This has been replaced with just a bare bones text watermark for each track. We have no idea what the tracks look like. Far too lazy?
Just one single car as the main feature in menu space. Why not having a rotation of random cars or a small user selection? Even if you select a certain car from the garage to race or modify, it always reverts back to the one on top of your favorites list as soon as you press the “back” button.
Slow and buggy sub30fps menus (in console at least). Why? The menus are extremely simple anyway. They should at least be snappy, especially in performance mode option. It’s just a single car in a single predefined space with baked lighting (which by the way looks bad and washes out all the car details)
The cars in the stickers look like cheap plastic replicas. Especially their headlights look strikingly off. Like they are painted on.
No actual music licenses for a multi TRILLION dollar behemoth of a company. Just a simple tune that somebody could have synthesized randomly in a music app.
Clearly there is extreme lack of attention to detail everywhere. Which would be acceptable for a small indie studio these days but here we have a 1st party studio who’s been around for 20 years. I remember they said they loved car culture years ago but now apparently this is not the case anymore. Soulless and lazy.
Yes, this game is definitely lacking any passion or soul. The menus are sterile and lifeless, as is the lighting engine and poor car models. Give it a year of quarterly updates and we will see what changes.
I could forgive the sterility and lack of character if it just worked properly. A menu that moves quickly, is easily legible, and doesn’t get in the way of the things I actually want to do, E.G. play the game., is what is important to me and most others.
The menu’s feel like they stripped it from a Mobile Free to play racing app, and in the old games, your last used currently selected car was the display car, it changed every time you did, now its just the cover car, over and over again which you apparently cant even use in racing?
Don’t mind the menus, but get flickering in the background a decent amount. Now the options that are lacking in said menus is a completely different topic…
One of my most hated parts of the menu systems is viewing designs. It just shows a small low quality image of a car design which you can’t view unless you apply and save the design, which is a long ordeal in itself.
Also, the menu gets noticeably more choppy the longer the game is played. Like, when you start the game, do two races, then go to select a car in the ‘my cars’ menu and it takes for ever for the game to catch up with itself.
Really hope the concentrate on optimization rather than content for this next update
Yep There is no reason the menu needs to be so unintuitive. Absolutely hate having to choose a car to get through to other areas of the menu. Which idiot was behind this decision. If anything the lobby or last car chosen should be the default choice.
Same deal with skipping practice, such dumb set-up by a bunch of dumb people.
And we have a winner, 1st place with your dirty ride in between those 2 others that are clean and fresh as if never done the whole 4 laps you did, but Congrats anyways, your car looks like s***
I wonder if that was caused by the update 7.2 roll back? I see ray tracibg related flickering in a few areas, mostly in scenarios where the cars aren’t racing.
