Lower a layer without replacing

Hi

im doing a design with several layers, since im new, im not quite there in the process of optimizing my layers so sometimes i would put an vinyl, that is supposed to be lower, pretty high on the layer count, my question is, is there a way to lower a layer on the layer count without replacing the layer where i want it to be.

ex: i have 10 layers all useful, i add an 11th layer and i want it to go between 3 and 4, but my only option, as far as im aware, is to replace layer 3 or cut paste everything from 4 to 10 and move it right of the 11th layer. But that is quite time consuming specially since my design is already in the hundreds.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

If I am understanding what you want to do correctly, just add the new layer as the 11th layer, cut it, highlight the 4th layer and paste; your new layer will now be the 4th layer, and what were layers 4-10 will all be bumped up one and be 5-11. This can be done with layer groups too. you can size and position your layer either before or after moving it to the new position in the order (or both before and after).

thanks for the response, yes that is exactly what i want to do.

But doesn’t work for me, i cut the 11th layer, highlight the 4th layer, paste and it replaces whatever the 4th layer was and the rest of the layers remain on their positions, i dont want to replace the 4th layer. i wanna put it between the layers and keep all the former layers.

idk if im missing something or a menu or an action, i checked everywhere but i dont seem to find it.

thanks for the patience and the response.

nvm, as soon as i posted this, i figured it out, thanks for the answer

the key was not use the sub menu paste, but the Y prompt insert. idk how did i miss that.

thanks.
