Paint/Vinyl question

I fully realize this is going to be a stupid question so pardon my noob-ness (is that a word?)

I’m not looking to do ultra fancy designs like most of you guys, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to do a design on one side of the car and get it to automatically appear on the other side of the car. I have to assume that’s possible… but I can’t figure it out.

I have the X1 version if it matters.

Also, maybe since I’m already asking this question. Aside from trial and error - does anyone have any tips/pointers on getting my rudimentary designs to looks decent or to make the mos of them?

Thanks for any and all help.

Loving the game so far.

Wildmn34, there are some tricks to it. And I am by no means a master, but I can give a few pointers.

When you’re building a design, don’t even try to manually match both sides … only work on one side of the car until you get it the way you want it. Once that’s done, add some reference lines to the finished side. I use 1 or 2 width white lines that run completely from front to back and top to bottom on the finished side. Make sure they’re exactly horizontal and vertical in a ‘cross’ configuration. Copy the horizontal reference line to the front and back bumpers of the car. Copy the vertical reference line to the top of the car. Make sure that the copied lines all line up with the reference lines on the finished side.

Now … make sure there’s nothing but the base paint coat on the unfinished side. If there’s anything there at all … remove it. On that blank side, select add vinyl. Then there’s an option that says something like “insert all vinyls/layers from other side”. Click that one. Everything including the reference lines will copy over from the other side. Next, select all layers on that side with the right trigger (so that the upper right corner of each is highlighted with the little triangle). Do this so you can move everything on that side at once if needed. Some cars don’t exactly line up properly when you copy all. With everything selected, move everything up/down/left/right as needed to line up all the reference lines with the ones on the top, front and back. Once everything’s lined up, cut out all the reference lines on all sides.

Voila … a perfectly matching car on both sides. Note … manufacturer’s logos added from the game will flip automatically so that they’re readable. If you have created any of your own text, you’ll need to flip it around so that it’s readable.

Hope all that makes sense. I think that’s mostly agreed upon as the best way to match sides accurately. Ask if you have any other questions. Good luck.

Or, you could do all the work on one side, flip to the other side, go to add a layer, and select “copy all from left/right”
POP, it’s done…might have to do a little realigning, but generally makes an exact copy…

Thats what wildcat said he just took the time to explain it better and add a few tips for getting it to line up properly.

Perfect! That’s just what I needed to get started. Now, the learning curve begins. lol

Appreciate the help guys. Thanks.
