Lost save in-game but on the Xbox app, I can see all my progress (WIN 11)

Hello,

‘PLAYING ON WIN 11’

I’ve recently bought a new FM, so I needed to uninstall the FH5 in order to get space on my laptop to play the FM. When I made some space to be able to install the FH5 back, it forced me to select save game from clou, which is normal. I choose the most recent one. Then I loaded the game and I was forced to start from beginning. I don’t know why, I have contacted the support immediately, but they just want to give me the inventory, which I’m not mad about though, but still, having to do everything from beginning just sucks.
Recently I discovered, that when I open up the Xbox app on my PC, I can see all of my progress, the total playtime, all of the achievements etc.
So I just wanted to ask, if someone doesn’t know what can cause this problem, since I think, that it is just some problem with syncing the cloud save or maybe when I started the game from the beginning, it just made another save, which put the main one with the progress to the background and now it won’t let me to choose which one I want to play…

Thanks for your help.

When you uninstalled FH5, did you delete the complete folder? At some point Microsoft changed the default file location of games when installing them. Now they’re installed at C:/XboxGames, previously they were installed “somewhere else”. Depending if you reinstalled to the same drive or location, you’re old save might still be on your machine.

Well there was a bug, I remember deleting “Forza Horizon 5” folder manually from C:/XboxGames, because it was halfway installed, but it still needed free space like there was no files already installed at all. However I never touched the “GameSave” folder, just the game folder. Plus as far as I know, the saves for the game are located somewhere in AppData/Local/…
