List of disappointments

Though someone else probably already listed them, but this is what I think is lacking or disappointing.

LIST

  • Wheelspins | Pointless character customization (Ex: Shoes) & horns
  • Rivals | Can’t choose own class & type (Ex: Modern Supercars)
  • Barn Finds | Some from FH3 & some were underwhelming
  • Vinyls | Same from FH3 & have to spend hours finding right vinyls in some cases
  • More REAL Race Cars | Would be funner to play
  • Horizon Stories | No options to create your own from scratch or a template
  • Drag Strips | Too short
  • Auction House Search | Too time-consuming & confusing
  • More Body Kits | Depends on company, but they’ll add more freedom to tuning
  • Houses | Only perks and can’t go inside???
  • Photo Editing | Maybe add more settings like hue???

THESE ARE ALL THAT I CAN THINK OF, I’LL EDIT MY POST IF MORE COME UP

Can someone, anyone, please tell me why the ranked team adventure that I spent 2 days leveling up, just to get past the qualifying stuff to the point where I’m in league 20 and now I’ve done 2 sets of races and earned ZERO points so far. Won the first set lost the 2nd and no points either time. It takes 20 minutes to find 12 people to start then I race through it all and still have ZERO points… WTH FORZA!!! I’ve played all 7 motor sports, and 4 horizons, I’ve bought the Ultimate Edition every time, and you give me this trash. This game has so many issues with the online multiplayer and that’s what it’s based on… and another thing what is with this TRASH of clothes, emotes, and car horns??? This isn’t fortnite or GTA, this is FORZA, I should win cars and credits for my wheel spins that I work so hard for, not stupid t-shirts and dance moves. This game is so broken, I can race on the easiest drivatars or the hardest and they all seem the exact same, no change at all. And when I’m with a convoy it kicks us offline after every race we do so we have to waste time getting back online and in the same room to start the next one just to do it all over again after that race. Motorsport 7 is amazing, what the hell happened for horizon 4. So stupid. Oh and the auction house, I bid on a car and it tells me bid failed so many times I lose the chance to buy the car, and sometimes it tells me I’m winning then the auction closes and I lost, what’s with that? And this hit rank 200 and it starts me back at 1, what’s with that? Dumb, so dumb, so many problems. I want to love this game but it’s a headache to play. I’m gonna end this here or I’ll end up typing an entire novel.

It’s kind of annoying to have to grind road races I’ve already completed just to get to level 20 to unlock Goliath.

Yeah I do agree… I’ve already did a total of 3 hours of grinding and I’m still only Road Racing Lvl 10. Maybe it’s not enough because I win almost every race on this series.

To unlock Goliath I spent 3 days grinding the Colossus. I must have done 40+ races I think. It took me 3 races per level to get to level 17, then I think it became 5 races per level if I’m not mistaken, so 3x7 + 5x3 = 46 races. Let that number sink in.

Actually easiest and probably most fun way to get to level 20 to unlock Goliath is just to race the Goliath in the Creative Hub > Blueprint from community. I’ve probably raced on it 5+ times and my road race series is only level 13. The nice thing is by racing on Goliath via Creative Hub, it actually levels up your road racing series.

So double win.

That’s what happens when they put in half the race content of H3. Don’t understand how they could go from the amount of content, progression & (at least more) story of H3 to what it is in H4.
So disappointing. They don’t even make new races for the seasonal stuff.

Forza Horizon 4 is designed as a Games As A Service (service) the video game industry has shifted to, unfortunately.

The underlying problem with this model is racing games rely heavily on base content (number of tracks) at launch whereas GAAS relies on continually releasing content to make up for the lack of base content these types of games often ship without. Games as a Service also relies heavily on microtransctions and loot boxes… The latter which is being forcefully removed across the world due to recent legislation that has declared loot boxes (il)legalized gambling aimed at minors.

This may be why there is such a heavy grind once the prologue ends; There were probably going to be “pay to progress” Wheelspins players could buy for real money, but were removed at the last minute because of the legal backlash against loot boxes? Playground Games didn’t have time to adjust the in-game economy to account for no “shortcuts”, either, so this may be why the game is such a mind-numbing grind as a result? This would also explain why we can’t sell cars in our garage for credits anymore, too…

Or it’s all just a conspiracy theory created by you. We haven’t had Microtransactions in Forza since, Horizon 2, I think and they already stated they had no plans to add them. It plays like previous Horizon games, wheelspins have been in since FH3.

FH3 had microtransactions. They were added post-launch. You could purchase “credits” and buy cars with those “credits”. Forgot the actual name so that’s why I called it “credits”.

But it definitely had. And Forza 7 had loot boxes with microtransactions until they were removed because devs panicked after the whole Battlefront 2 debacle. (and Shadow of War, they were both at the same time pretty much).

It is not out of the realm of reality to assume that at that point, FH4 was already under development, and it already had microtransactions tied in to the wheelspins. It is perfectly plausible that they removed microtransactions until either the waters cool and it’s safe to add them back, or until they find another solution of getting money.

All I can say is that the super wheelspins show all of the signs of a free-to-play, microtransactions driver monetisation system. It’s flashy, a lot of bells of whistles, it’s fun, it has very high highs and very low lows, and that makes it addicting. It is purposefully filled with useless items, so that it makes you want to buy more, so you get those special items that are so elusive. You see them swing by, you know they exist and that you “could” land on them, but never do. So that makes you spend more money to get more spins, so that after 200 dollars spent you finally land on one of those very special drops. But then the feeling is gone, and you crave it again. So you spend even more. It’s horrible stuff, games purposefully design to get you addicted to make you spend money. I think there’s a name for that. Oh yeah, gambling.

yeh they were called tokens, same as they were in fm6 and previous games, and I still don’t know why people ever bought them

FM7 NEVER ever had microtransactions and they were never there to be removed
they have loot boxes which are being removed in November

still don’t know why people think fh4 was built around them either
the game throws wheelspins and credits worse than any other forza game, other than fm6 ( which was ridiculous, and people still bought tokens, I don’t know why, never needed to)
don’t know why people buy wheelspins or super wheelspins with their forzathon points anyway, but I guess not much else to use the points on

You can buy 1 super wheelspin for FP150 or 3 wheelspins for FP120… anyone notice a problem with that?

I think super wheel spins have better odds.

Yep. Better odds of me getting 3 pink/shiny hats and skirts instead of just one. That’s been my experience. I’ve always received better prizes from single wheelspins (usually always a car). My Super Wheelspins are almost always 2 clothing items and a cash prize of 5-10,000 dollars. Out of the hundreds of wheelspins I’ve had I’ve also only received one HE car and 2 wheelspin only cars as well.

Well ive had hundreds of super wheel spins and from that I received tons of credits, all the wheel spin cars except the Audi TTRS, and lots of dupe FE cars including multiple LP700-4 FE. The best thing i’ve gotten from normal wheel spins is a car worth 10m but way less on the auction house. Nothing rare like a wheel spin only car. I’ve only gotten those from super wheel spin.

On a Super Wheelspin I’ll usually get a hat, a horn, and a horned hat.

Was there a knock on your door?

I guess you consider racing a grind, but I picked a couple circuit tracks I liked most and created a 25 and 50 lap blue print. Holyrood park, 50 laps. 436k credits, 136k influence, took me from almost level 19 to over level 21.

No Amphicar.
