List everything you think is wrong with the game

I don’t know if it has but I feel drafting has been nerfed in NASCAR since the last update which has now made it, well, less fun basically. Someone asked there if quitting lowers skill rating…I know I’m finding out quickly this weekend after many tedious oval races lasting no more than 10 laps.
If this is the case that it’s been changed it’s not for the better, totally different experience to the last few weekends after they were introduced, the close, tight pack racing seems to have gone.

There are things about this game that annoy me:

  1. AI
  2. racing line of the AI, no respect of the opponent, sticking on the “ideal-line” and not having rear-view mirror to see that someone is next to you
  3. behavior of the AI in the first round, ridiculous acceleration
  4. penalty system, ridiculous high seconds punishments

There are certainly hundreds of things I like about Forza Motorsport. But 2-3 things are enough to make me absolutely not loving this game, to kill the session of the game and start and play a better game.

The thing I hate the most is that you get pushed off the track by other players or the AI because your line is not respected. And who gets the penalty? Just you and an extremely high one, 2.5 seconds or 4 seconds respectively.

This has nothing at all to do with real motorsport, which is why I do not call this game Forza Motorsport but “Forza Penalty - Car Crash AI 1.0 Update 15”.

If someone - not me - wants to play Demolition Derby, there are plenty of alternatives. So they can leave Forza and do whatever they want in another game without me.

Since I only play X-Box because of Forza - meanwhile I have also bought a lot of other racing games since “Forza penalty car crash AI” was released and upsets and annoys me.

My time is no longer wasted with Forza, but is spent on fun games with lots of content.

I’m looking forward to 2025, when new games will be released, not from T10, but my friends have already signaled that they will be back on board.

Not a single one of my friends plays Forza Motorsport 2023 anymore

They have struggled with drafting in the past, to be honest. In FM5, however, it felt reasonably realistic to me, FM6 was okay too.

But they really need to do some research into this and pull actual data to mimic drafting in the game.

I agree speedster. Wish the side draft was a little stronger. Like dale earnhardt jr saying, dad really knows how to use the air.

I hope t10 doesn’t decide to end support for this game. They’ve made so much progress since launch. Sure the game needs more work and I hope we can get everything ironed out and more cars and a lot more tracks, maybe other modes and race day options to race or spectate like they do in reality. Taking all weekend to practice , qualify and race, a lot of hype and follow through to give us fans exciting races.

Nothing would disappoint me more than to see them (t10) say well fans this is it for this game we’re leaving it as is and building a new game and going to focus on that.:crossed_fingers: us fans don’t care how big the game is, I don’t think there’s ever been a game with many versions of motorsports and racing. Nothing would be better than having everything all in one game. I hope they explore all options and ideas to generate income and keep this thing going and become one of the best racing games out there.

Why are my tires ice cold when I start a qualifying lap?

Why can I only select fuel in increments of 10% when PITTING?

Why does the fuel meter in the menu not display decimals but the fuel meter in the PITS does?

Why does my tune unshare itself after I share it?

Thing is, they’re going to have to do precisely that, and they’re going to have to do it soon. The amount of work that is needed to make this game actually worth MSRP is so enormous that it will be exceedingly difficult to justify not creating a whole new SKU for it.

It was said that this game wasnt going to have a sequel, that it would last the generation and just be built upon. But this was also said about halo infinite and obviously it didnt turn out that way as infinte wont live up to its title.

In the sound update thread one of the developers during an interview had a bit of a slip up and said something about they only have so much time or theyd run out of time. If the game was going to last for a decade, why would they be worried about time.

Theres also the fact that Chris Esaki has said how for certain things to be added it would be hard and take a lot of time. Once again, if this game was supposed to last, theyd have nothing but time to add things. So imo this game is not going to last that long, im thinking major support will cease the end of 2025.

The question becomes do they make another game or will they be relegated to being a support studio for playground games. I think horizon 6 will give this answer. If they dont adopt this “new” version of forzatech and stick with horizon 5s, i think motorsport is toast proving it was a failed project. Im also curious to see what they do with the reused asset conundrum as people are tired of seeing xbox 360 models in horizon as well.

Every new car suggestion it’s always the same crappy engine swaps…

You cannot tune the version of the spec cars you bought outside of the practice lobby. Tuning the version you get to drive in single player, and then applying those values to the race version doesn’t net the same results.

The exact same car, with he exact same tune, on the exact same track, in the exact same weather, with the exact same amount of fuel will handle differently depending on if it’s a single player race, test drive, rivals, or online multiplayer race.
Reality has one set of rules for physics, why does the game need four?

Turning tire wear on or racing in adverse weather only affects the player’s car- the AI is exempt from such annoyances, such as friction and gravity.

The way that stopping on a sloped curb (and applying the handbrake) will cause your car to levitate sideways.

The way that voting for an issue only gets it moved from “report new issues” to “known issues”… and not much else.

And some of the engine swaps aren’t applicable to cars that they might actually be useful in.

Swapping out the V8 in any of the musclecars for a 200ish HP 4 banger that weighs 200lbs less would make for a nice C class car- but nope.

Put a coyote v8 into a focus fwd? sure!
Put an engine that would fit into the engine bay with room to spare? Nah, can’t be done.

  1. in time trials you always have to go back to the selection screen to tune.
  2. the engine sound is simply a disaster. Was the sound recorded in a tin can ?
  3. the graphics are pale, no strong colors and the crash barriers flicker all the time. if you can’t get the grooves right, it’s better to leave them out or put in other barriers.
  4. why are there no qualifications for the career, do you always have to choose the starting position? Is there no better way or can’t you do it better?
  5. why do you get time penalties if the AI drives into the back of you?
  6. why are there always the same cars, whether FM 6, 7 or 8?
I am very disappointed with this game and the developers.

Honestly, they wouldn’t have to bribe me with credits if they had the car use the transmission it is presented with. Assetto Corsa, and Raceroom does this, and in Raceroom’s case the transmission isn’t presented to you until you go into the garage and tune the car. But within 3 seconds, I know what shifting method I need to use when practicing with the car. That whole, not being able to move the car until I properly place it in gear with either paddles or H-pattern.

Plus in AC or R3E, you have to shift properly. Doing things like using the clutch pedal after you shift (something I was able to get away with in FM 3 - FM7) isn’t possible. FM needs to be more serious with transmissions.

As an automatic driver I find that Kunos has done the transmissions properly. Their automatic affords the option of manual override. So you can downshift going into corners and let the transmission handle the upshifting. It’s the way a proper automatic transmission should work if set up for racing.

If ACC EVO is half the game it’s advertised, it will be twice the game this one is in it’s current state.

New thing that grinds my gears. FRR doesn’t cite unsafe joining. Just had the A.I. lunge back onto the track a split second in front of me, and ruined my race at the start of the last lap.

Also that thing where the A.I. blows a braking point, and goes extra wide on a corner, only to dive back onto the racing line at a non-safe speed should be cited as well. That can’t be legal.

  1. There’s some games that still look good with anti aliasing turned off. Forza Motorsport is not one of them.

  2. Brake checking AI.

  3. V8 car sounds (some are good, lots aren’t)

Not much, but they are my gripes.

Why can’t we add/change tunes in the race screen of career mode?

If you pick a tune and it doesn’t work you have to quit out to the main menu, go into the tuning options for that car, change it, go back into the career mode race and then hope that the new one you just got is better than the last one or else you have to do it all over again.

“You can’t put toothpaste back in the tube”

The damage has already been done. Many Forza fans have left the house - in other words, they no longer play the game like they used to. But there are others whose fan loyalty is still unknown. No matter how loud you shout, you won’t be heard. The catalog of penalties is simply a 100% joke.

Wow I just realized I gave up playing a month ago. The reason(s)? I’m sick and tired of

  • being told in which class I have to drive. Not to mention that it’s a chore to switch setups between classes for the same cars
  • waiting 20 minutes for the next race.

Turn 10 stop trying so hard to copy GT7.
Please.

I agree with everything you have said.
I haven’t raced in multiplayer for months now and its all i used to do.
This game use to be a great racing game, jump on, pick a class and race all night. Now everything just seems a chore, even tuning and painting.
T10 have tried to go more sim orientated and just screwed it up. Why i have no idea tbh, we have sim games and Forza was great where it was.

Legit question. Did you guys enjoy online racing in FM7 with no track limits and penalties? Where EVERYONE was cutting track like crazy, crashing each other etc? To be competitive, you had to drive through grass. Is that your preference, really?
