Premiering at this week’s Friday Night Thunder was an event which is going to be a big hit with fans of both the traditional hotrod and its modern equivalent. The perfect “old school” lead sled IMO is the Hudson Hornet, only because we don’t have a 1950 Mercury. Unfortunately, the Hudson is, err, shall we say velocity-challenged.
Some other candidates for this category (RWD only, >3200 pounds curb weight) are the 40 Ford, 67 Dodge W023, Plymouth GTX and Cuda hemi’s, several late-model Ferraris, some big-block Mustangs, trucks, and the Pagani Huayra (!)
It’s a new experience when you have to choose upgrades to increase the gross weight.
I plan to hold Lead Sled events on different days and times during the week. You won’t need an invite for the series, as I plan to make these public lobbies. I will try to announce the events at least 48 hours in advance. Get those heavyweights tuned up!
The full slate of drag racing will continue as Friday Night Thunder. Special events will include front-wheel-drive dragsters, 1/8-mile races, and more.
