So am back on Forza 7, and want to try get these endurance races done, I can race no problem against the AI on unbeatable in every other series, but when I try to do this showcase the Porsche 919 seems to have no chance against the Peugeot 908, i don’t mind playing catch up but as far as I can tell it’s near enough impossible without resorting to cheating, has anyone else managed to do this? And if so any tips?
I don’t play on unbeatable, and I haven’t done the Le Mans endurance yet, but I just finished the Sebring 300 and it was the first race I had to cheat on. Even the shorter endurance races were no problem, but I had to lower the difficulty level and turn off sim damage to win Sebring. The first place car is just way too quick and the AI can go so much further without pitting.
I also turned on rewind, but we don’t need to talk about that.
It is absolutely possible on unbeatable if you do it on extra long (it’s just under 5 hours if I remember correctly) with sim damage (or fuel + tyre wear on) if you do the rest of your racing on unbeatable. Tbh, I was kinda surprised that it was pretty easy to do, the Porsche has to make more pitstops but you don’t have to worry about the tyre wear (the Peugeot has terrible laptimes at the end of each stint) and the AI has difficulty passing the slower GT cars later on in the race. I did my normal laps and just around half of the race I had pulled a gap already so that after a few more laps when I came out of the pits I was still in the lead and the Peugeot had to come in a lap later. You just need to be constistent with your own laptimes.
That seems strange, if not almost impossible… unless i REALLY suck, and yes, that is highly likely, but in my tests on this, i was able to run 7 laps, at full tilt, in the porsche, before i needed to pit, in the 908s i was running faster laptimes, and i was able to get 10 laps at full tilt, on a tank of fuel, on average a pitstop costs ~1 min, 20sec IRL, at Le Mans, so on 70 laps, you would have spent ~12 min, in pits, vs the 908s ~9min 20 sec, meaning that over the 70 laps, you would have to average ~2,2sec faster pr lap, to break even, when i set the AI to unbeatable, they are doing 3:28-3:31s, so in a Porsche, that IS slower on the straights, at least it was when i tried em, you would be doing 3:25-3:28s on average, this seems highly unlikely, at the very least id like to see your setup?
i did a few tests (this was a few patches ago) and the porsche and Audi R18 e-tron, are rubbish. They are both WAAY less economical than the R15++, the Peugeot 908s, hell, even the old Sauber C9 with its HUUGE V8, runs longer on a tank full.
I found that the 919 Hybrids, and the R18s seems to be missing the key thing that made them more eco, the kers type thinghy, its there on the acceleration, they are both blistering fast out of corners, but it seems that the game has added the power from the KERS, to the total power of the car, and must have a xxxKW = xL/G Fuel pr km/mi, at least thats my theory.
Are you kidding? I have run all of the cars in that division and I am like a second a lap quicker in the Porsche on pretty much any circuit. Maybe a couple of seconds at Le Mans. I did just fine, won by half a lap in the enduro race on unbeatable and on extra long because of just how easy that car is to drive consistently. It’s just so predictable and well behaved, it manages the power like no other. It’s like exiting a corner and engaging light drive. All of a sudden you’re going very fast indeed and you barely noticed! Of course, there’s nothing much you can do about the fuel consumption being as you’re running miles upon miles flat out with like 1000lbs of downforce holding you back, and I’m guessing it simply has the smallest fuel tank of the prototypes. Well fuel saving isn’t really an option, I doubt what you would save per stint would even equate to a full lap, and to make it do so would probably be costing you more in lap times. The only way is to utilize the superior performance of the car, be smoooth and consistent and don’t make any mistakes. I wasn’t running sensational lap times for the most part (or any part, really lol), I just made sure I kept my concentration and hit all my brake markers, the car kinda does the rest. Take a few rest breaks when you pit too, stop your mind from going stale.
Yes, this was quite a fun race, quite easy really. The Sebring one on the other hand, well let’s just say I had to use TCS. Made me feel guilty.
Ok, I did this one again this morning (unbeatable, extra long). At first it looks like it’s impossible to win this race (I needed to pit every 5 laps) but after 15/20 laps I was already miles ahead of the car behind me. The car in 2nd place finished more than 9 minutes (2½ laps) behind me. Total racetime: 5 hours and 12 minutes, best lap: 3:26.8.
Yeah, after ~20-30 laps they get ‘confused’ when they need to pit, and hit the tirewalls on the way to the pit, and just sit there, sometimes for a lap, on ‘unbeatable’ so yeah, extra long races, seems to be the way to beat em.
