Unbeatable glitch back? (porsche expansion)

I remember when the game was initially released, players (myself included) were having issues with the leading drivatars on the unbeatable setting pretty much being unreachable. Almost as if they were in a whole class above you.

Recently purchasing the Porsche expansion and playing through the career, I’m seeing this again. The lead car basically rockets off to never be seen again as I’m a good ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field in second. Anyone else experiencing this? I’m pushing my car to the limits and still laughably losing by a great margin to the lead car.

I actually never saw it go away. The worst has to be the new homestead track on unbeatable with stock tunes. I dunno if they changed the drivatar difficulty because they decided to add mod cards and push them down everyones throats or what, but its very annoying.

Theres one thing to make ai challenging, but ive seen them put up plenty of impossible times with stock tuned cars to the point that its ridiculous. Ive experimented with it to see what the deal is by doing the same race a few times, some ill win the race , some ill stay back and let them win and then theres times that I’ve used performance mods just to see what would happen and they post even quicker times then before. Ive noticed it doesnt happen on every track but it does happen often enough to be bothersome.

I think it’s funny they try to say drivatars are some revolutionary, sophisticated, never been done before ai, but in reality its just the same as every other game. Theres nothing realistic watching them make the same mistakes over and over, seeing the same lap time groupings where you have a bunch that are super slow then some that are midpack which make the most mistakes, and then of course the top 3 which are always so much better than the rest.

I’ve seen this go away in the regular game but in the Porsche expansion I have noticed this as well. I’ll find myself well ahead of 3rd place but 1st place still being unreachable and all of this starting earlier in the pack. In the regular career you start 14th and I think in Porsche you start further up the grid. Do keep in mind that in the Porsche Anthology (at least as far as I’ve gotten) you cannot tune or upgrade your cars AND the field is often similar in PI but you are racing cars sometimes 30 PI more than what you have.

In the new NASCAR expansion I think the game gives the Unbeatable AI some kind of magical 25% grip mod. I’ve seen them pull off some braking distances and cornering speeds which are simply impossible.

THIS. ^^

I’m a very good oval racer. I’m usually very high on the leader boards. I should have zero problems and on the homestead 300 there is either rubber banding - or the ai has a tuned car. There is no other option.

I was running with mods (6+ grip and 13% power) there is no way that Rossi should have been able to beat my best time by 1.5 seconds. Or I should have lost completely.

I’m a top .5 maybe even top 0.1% when it comes to ovals. So no it wasn’t my driving.

I had 2500-5000’ leads evaporate to being 500’ behind top 2 spots.

Check LBs for X, P, R classes. I’m on the first page of each. Races that are rigged aren’t races. I wouldn’t have minded a good race. If someone (AI included) is better or equal and we are racing that would have been exciting. But it was clear to me that the cars were not even. They had ability to change lanes in banks and pull away when I was full out – completely not possible unless they had an upgraded car and or physics just wasn’t applying to then as the race was scripted (rubber banding)

When the NASCAR expansion came out I tried racing Homestead in Indycar with a friend and some drivatars set on above average, thinking it would be a bit of a laugh, should have been an easy walkover as we usually use Pro or Unbeatable. We were wrong. The top two or three drivatars would have topped the leaderboards by over a second at that time (although there were under 500 times at that point), don’t think I lifted at all and they were just walking away. I was hanging in there in 6th or so, tried to pit, had my car blow past the pit stall, had to go around again and come in a bit slower, neither human player ended up in the top 10.

I did my run on PRO - I’m a normally Unbeatable or Pro as well.

I never thought in a million years that it was going to be a race but from the initial play through - I knew I wasn’t completely happy with the #24 stock on the speedway - needed a lift and it just wouldn’t hold the lane and liked to under steer on exit and decel wasn’t low enough to get much rotation on the lift off throttle and it really liked to track up to the wall on exit. So I said, hey just drop the difficulty to PRO to make it easy. Rossi’s chip gnassi car had equal power (I had a bit more top speed) but his power was great and his grip was insane he could stick the bottom at 175mph+ probably more when I was using the whole track outside to apex to outside at 173mph at apex - for me to stick the low side exit I would have to slow to 168mph - so he had a huge advantage with his car.

I think it was rubberbanding/ scripting to keep the race tense. because that car and my car were not equal and if it ran consistent it should have destroyed me by the end of the race.

Old tendencies from FM4 of wanting to wreck M.Rossi were definitely enforce. LOL.
J.Davis was no slouch either - as well as Sasaki(sp?) he was very fast but less consistent. So there were clearly to me, four cars that were far superior to my car when we were all supposed to be stock. Dunno something is up.

The power was at least 10% plus stock and the grip was off the charts good way better then 6%+ stock. Foot is probably right with the 25% comment.

Lol drivitars are slow on unbeatable.

I just recently went back to the Porsche expansion, I was on the second evolution with the 959. It was the second race and I noticed that the car classes were all different. My car was A class, there were 7 S class cars, 9 B class and another 3 A class. However, I can’t remember if this was meant to be a multi-class series?

The races afterwards are similar. I was in a C class and half the field was in D class. I am wondering if something has went a bit askew with the PI and class sorting for choosing cars to race against in the career mode, but this could be on purpose? Are you seeing something like this?

Imo it’s better than on release, but not fixed I. get the occasional drivatar run away but if I manage to keep the pressure on em they usually mess up before the end of the race, however there’s that exception where I have to restart because they run crazy fast and dont bobble

It never went away for me. It happened less often and/or not as drastically, but it never left.

The Drivatars are insanely good in a stock Nascar when set to unbeatable and I am also in a stock Nascar. Homestaed, Brands Hatch and Spa are impossible to catch the top 3 Drivatars while driving a R833 Nascar. They seem like they are in R900 cars. When you set them to Pro they fall apart after the first couple of turns. I have had some fun races so far in the Nascar Series races but some tracks it is frustrating. I think I will leave them on unbeatable and start using power and weight mods for the 3rd and 4th expeditions.

^^^I agree. They are also crazy fast at Silverstone GP.

I agree. Did 1st race and it was laughable how impossible it was to catch 1st place, but then on other tracks you’re like 5-10 seconds ahead. It’s like it depends what cars they are driving, the weather conditions and what track :S
